Superdome Renovations Updates (1 Viewer)

Amazing how great that stadium is in the era of I want a new stadium every decade

Please tell me that got a new sound system?

I've never been a fan of the sound system in the dome. Most people point to the acoustics of the building. The sound seems to have a slight echo. I wonder if the opening up of the building will make a difference. Whoever is in charge of the sound must not have a good idea of what it sounds like in the seating areas. For one, the commercials are played way to loud while the main sound is often to low. In todays world of technology, they should be capable of producing theatre surround sound with rumbling seats when the Saints score a touchdown. lol

This is all I can find on the Superdome sound system.

In a May 26, 2017 an article by Nick Underhill who at the time was with The Advocate as viewed at theadvocate.com, sound system upgrades were part of the initial renovation proposal. I don't know if it was part of the final plan.

Maybe someone can ask Nick or someone with the Saints (such as Dennis Lauscha) or someone with the dome if anything has been done recently to improve the sound system and if so, to what extent.

From a SSF Thread titled Superdome PA System:

I am at the game and the sound system at the dome is terrible it is said that we have to listen to this horrible PA system. I have heard better at high school games it's truly unacceptable. You can't understand what anyone is saying at all. I am furious at how poor the sound is.

I agree also, with todays technology in room correction, amplification, equalization, wiring, speaker arrays, echo absorption, it could sound much, much better ...

The volume at times was absolutely ridiculous. Music would blast out of nowhere so loudly people were jumping out of their seats. And forget about having a conversation between plays and during timeouts. Whatever idiot is in charge of this is going to realize soon that the vast majority of ticket paying customers is over 30 and is going to a football game slash social event, not a blackout night at Ampersand.

here's the problem - the volume level depends HUGELY on where you sit. It's excruciatingly high for me as well (in the lower terrace)... but I've watched several games from other locations - particularly the plaza - and it's virtually inaudible (and what is audible is muddled).

From the above source, if authentic,
it appears that FEMA approved the damaged equipment to be repaired, not replaced.

It appears it had been modified over the years prior to the damage caused by Katrina.

OK...
Does anyone know if the Superdome PA/Sound System has been merely repaired, upgraded, or replaced since the original opening of the dome in 1975?
