That's right, y'all, breaking news. You heard it here first, before the EE, PDB, SSF and whatever acronym you want to put together. The Supreme Court has just ruled that video games deserve first amendment protection, just like art.

The whole ruling is here: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/10pdf/08-1448.pdf

The case that went before the court was Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association (formerly Schwarzenegger v. Entertainment Merchants Association) strikes down California Civil Code 1746-1746.5, which tried to make the sale or rental of mature-rated video games to underage consumers an illegal offense punishable by fines.

The most fascinating and troubling thing about that entire opinion:

"Justice SCALIA delivered the opinion of the court..."

Thomas and Bryer were the dissenting votes. Talk about strange bed fellows.

I'm quite surprised at this ruling. Does this mean a minor can go rent a porn flick now.

I would say so, and that parents should police and control what their children do rather than the government, and the random convenience store clerk. But I'd also be living in a fantasy land...

She either has poor decision making skills, or she has trouble saying no. Either way, you should've pursued...

I'm glad. If they had upheld that law, I would have stolen a government tank and run all of them down in the street. Then beat all of their wives with a tire iron and taken whatever money appeared in mid air.

Video games are arguably one of the highest art forms out there.

The best video game writers are screenplay/book writers.

The best video game renderers can sculpt in real life

The best texture artist can actually paint because you must first understand color and the basic art form before you can be good on a computer.

And the best concept video game artist work outside the industry doing just that..drawing in every field imaginable besides just video games..in almost any design, it all starts with a pencil...and that's what they use as they create designs that will be rendered/textured afterwards-- and that's as artsy as it gets.

All of these guys above come together to execute a highly involved project that can take as long as 7 years or so.

So why in the heck did this take so long?

between parents and government there lies a problem.

I wouldn't call her "hot"...

eager beats hot the majority of the time.
