Robert McCammon’s Swan Song is one of my favorite books of all time, I’ve read it about a dozen times

Often compared to Stephen King’s The Stand (which I’ll admit I’ve never read)

Going to be a TV show. I’m always wary when a beloved book becomes a movie or TV show because is almost never as good, and is often terrible

That said, I should be excited about this. But after Teacup (supposedly based on Stinger) I’m not

I’ll wait until casting is announced and trailers appear but at the moment sadly don’t have high hopes
=======================================

The series adaptation of the Robert McCammon novel “Swan Song” has found its writer, Variety has learned exclusively.

Russell Rothberg has boarded the project, which was first announced in January, to serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The show is now being taken out to market.

The official logline for the show states:

“Following the U.S. government’s nuclear showdown with an unprecedented malevolent enemy, the world, as it was, is gone forever. In its place is a society whose remaining citizens are caught in a life and death struggle to stay alive in a wasteland born of rage and fear, populated by monstrous creatures and marauding armies. One small girl offers a glimmer of hope against a supernatural being hell bent on the planet’s destruction.”

As previously reported, the series hails from Monarch Media and Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten’s Monster Agency Productions. Nicotero is attached to direct the pilot and will executive produce along with Witten. Steve Barnett, Alan Powell and Vicky Patel will executive produce through Monarch Media, together with McCammon. Brandi Hagedorn will co-produce…….

probably my favourite book as well - worried they'll ruin it though - I think it's important they get Josh and Roland casted properly, sister and macklin aren't as important i think

I Picture a Michael Clarke Duncan type for Josh

Not sure for Roland, he’s about 12 when the book starts I think

Do think Mackin is important, Stephen Lang? but probably a bit too old for the role now
