Based on Stinger by Robert McCammon

McCammon is probably my favorite author but when I first read Stinger I didn’t like it at all, when I reread it years later it was much better than I remembered

Not near the top of his work (that will always be Boys Life, Swan Song & Wolf’s Hour) but nowhere near the bottom which is where I had it (that will always be Night Boat)

So I’m halfway through this series and “based on” is doing a lot of heavy lifting

Wife and I binged it last weekend. It was interesting. Not bad. Just not terribly original. I think if anything the acting saved it. It hooked me enough to watch a second season if it happens.

Just finished

It was alright. Turned into “the Thing” Lite

didn't really feel the paranoia that you could all through out that movie

Swan Song is in my top 5 - like most of mccammon's works - baal and stinger were two of the first i read, have most of the others,
this trailer is not doing it for me though - wish they would have just done Stinger - there are so many of his books that i feel would translate into movies if they'd just follow the story

If we're being 100% honest, aside from a few major exceptions like George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire GOT trilogy series and HOTD prequel adaptations, how many great novels are even fully translated book-to-screen at even a 80% ratio? Even GOT and HOTD edited or left out some major plot points, character arcs, and even events. Even when they are supposedly "following the books" that really isn't ever 100% the case.

Most people maybe aren't aware but Shutter Island was based around an original novel who's ending was very different then the film's?

you're probably right about this - American Gods (loved that book and was pumped for the tv adaptation) couldn't even finish a season before being cancelled, they seemed to be following the story pretty faithfully - with Stinger... just make Predator again, I'd watch the sheet outta that
