Agreed. I didn't really see anything special out of that offense. Nico Collins is a stud WR, but he's a grinder who developed into what he is now. I pay attention to WRs who were recruited and played under Jim Harbaugh. Tank Dell and Stroud were lightning in a bottle last year with Collins ascent to a WR1. This year, adding Diggs (always a mistake) , Collins injury, Stroud's regression and the late season Dell injury exposed Slowik.

I hope we decide on MM soon and give him the opportunity to decide whether or not he wants to keep KK. I'm not sure what Slowik would have to offer as a potential replacement as I don't think he has a "system".

When adjusting for opponent and situation, it was an average offense in 2023 (ranked 14th by DVOA). Johnson staying an extra year made more sense because they were top five, but Slowik was playing with fire by hoping for a second year leap.

That said, he won't be unemployed long.

Wasn't Jerod Johnson up there with Dan Pitcher as our top OC candidates? I think he was really counting on getting that OC gig when Slowik got a HC job. Could be a big misstep if he turned down other opportunities and doesn't get the one he was banking on.

Their OL was a disaster and their WR corps was a revolving door with injuries.

No clue how good he is. But lot of other reasons why that O fell off this year.

Yeah i mean, they gave Slowik a lot of new toys this off-season to make his job even easier than it was last year. Instead the entire unit, and specifically CJ Stroud regressed, firing him was the only outcome.
