I've done everything wrong in investing, so whatever I say, doing the opposite is probably good advice.

That being said, AI isn't done by a long shot. And Intel has been dumping tons of cash into ramping up capacity. They pay a decent dividend. They're still a blue chip Dow company. They've been getting hammered recently, in large part because they haven't been as quick and agile to get into AI chips, but I think they've been working to pivot on that. So maybe on a 5 year horizon, there could be a ton of growth once those foundries are up and running.

That being said, I'm long on Intel

I worry about my parents who retired in 2020. They worked with a financial planner and the consensus was that through their pensions and my Dad’s veteran affairs contributions that they would be fine.

They essentially have a steady (but stagnant) paycheck until they die.

But inflation is eating them away. Property taxes way up now compared to then. Used car prices are insane. Groceries. Medical. You name it.

I think they will re-renter the workspace. I imagine this is hitting many recent retirees hard as well, from inflationary concerns.

Feel for your parents. My mother just benefited massively from the SSA changes from the previous admin allowing state pensioners to collect full spousal benefits.

This is the first year since 2022 my yearly property assessment (2026) and tax increase didn't push or exceed the 10% cap in DC. I have no clue how anyone without a paid off home can eat the insurance rates in LA and FL. Food cost is ridiculous right now. Home repairs/renovations are outrageous. Thank goodness I don't need a car, because they are priced liked we forgot how to make them.

I turned off the buy spigot but should have liquidated my brokerage. I been building some cash for a correction buy but early retirement is probably out the window having taken zero action on the retirement front.

I think tomorrow will be very telling. Usually after these types of dips, there's a significant bounce the next day. I expect it to move big one way or the other, which way it breaks will tell a lot about investor temperament.

Dead cat bounce lol

This is why I posted what I did. ( the dollar amount)

There are so many retired folks that just saw real dollars...dollars they depend on each month from 401/IRAs that are based on a formula of returns on current balance vs withdraws. And depending on total balance vs withdraws, they could have seen the length of time in taking withdrawals shortened by 1 or 2 years ( 10 years of taking 70k per yr...well now it's 8 based on current trajectory)

I still have years to go, but so many are retired and living off, in part, retirement funds outside SS.

Terrible day all around.

Stay positive? We are going to boom?

This has gotten me worked up now too as you can see. I’m going to take a break and when I come back I hope it is just a bad dream. I hate to see people are losing it all and some are just sitting on their hands and a certain few (Mistakenly elected) think nothing is wrong.
