The Investment Thread (23 Viewers)

That’s kinda where i am right now.. to me, even more important than dividing Left vs Right, or City vs Rural, or whatever- is dividing people (for purposes of the point im trying to make , im not really in favor of ‘dividing’ people)- but separating the people who think 1) Orange is a genius, a brilliant businessman who knows what he’s doing, can basically do no wrong, and we all kinda aspire to be like him … versus 2) people who think he’s a dip**** moron who makes s*** up as he goes along and is driven by ego and pretty much nothing else .. if a person agrees with the second option (even if that person couldn’t bring themself to vote for the other candidate b/c she had a funny name and laughs weird)- then i have some level of connection with that person.. even if i think that person is a sucker to vote for Orange.. i have at least some connection with them, versus someone who thinks he’s the brilliant business guy… Does any of that makes sense ?
Kind of sounds like the political divisiveness they're trying to move elsewhere. But, again, I can't speak for the admins.

So after this, let's try to get this thread back to subject.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not purposely trolling me/moderation with the post above, but you're making it very hard to do so. If you can't see that the phrasing of the above crosses the line into baiting others to engage in a negative partisan fashion, then I don't know what to tell you, and you're eventually going to start getting thread banned. And, WITHOUT EQUATING THE TWO IN TERMS OF OFFENSIVENESS but merely by way of analogy, your post "feels like" you're creating a discussion about the N word to give you an excuse to use the N word. Knock it off.

One last point: I suspect (and am kinda sure) that Andrus' intent is not just to avoid partisan argument but to create a space where all people, of whatever political persuasion, feel welcome. So, the mere absence of partisan bickering doesn't prove that the intent is met. It might also be a sign that many Trump supporters have left the site entirely, not just politically-tinged threads, and that is NOT the result that we want here.

Now, enough on the moderating-the-site discussion, and let's all get back to this thread's purpose.

Futures up big.

Either sentiment was many overreacted or wall st knows something about April 9.
Probably a mixture of both. I just dont know if, or maybe I dont have faith, that we can go a full trading day without SOMEONE in this admistration saying something to tank sentiment.

Uhhh...not to interrupt but can someone just tell me if stock market still sad or if stock market starting to be happy again?
I'm not sure anyone can really say.

My take is the stock market is currently in a toxic relationship, so it's still down, but right now it really thinks that maybe he can change, so it's on the up.

you will know more at 3pm ;)

we are now off highs about 400 pts from open - so enthusiasm started off, now wearing off.

its going to be like this for a while i suspect ( daily translating to weekly ups and downs ) until this tariff issue is settled.

Then we jump out the frying pan...

to tackle inflationary pressures, recession pressures, GDP pressures- IRAN, China, ME/Ukraine etc etc

so into the fire.

Maybe hope for a fix to tariff formula? Maybe seeing most nations being willing to talk before adjusting tariffs unlike China? Maybe realizing oil is at a 4yr low and could help balance inflation pressures? Maybe just ppl seeing a 12% drop and figuring it’s quick cash on a rebound?

You see, this is why you guys are worth the hassle of being a moderator.

You crack me up when I need a laugh, and I can live vicariously through those who are enviably so much cleverer than I.

Then again, I guess I don't really have to be a moderator for that.... ;)
