My husband scarcely knew who she was. I tried to think of something he'd know her from. THIS is the movie that rang a bell (I explained she played the wife of the actor that was the consigliere from Godfather. Oh Robert DeNiro, he said. *smh* He was close, it was Robert and started with a "D". *shrug*)

The movie is Something to Talk About. I never thought it was a great movie; but it's got some Southern charm to it, horses, and a really cute kid actor ... and a really crusty, insufferable Robert Duval. This is her first scene I thought of.

Incredible talent - but not a kind of talent that we respond to much anymore
The writer of the article mentioned her performance in Night on Earth. I’d completely forgotten that was her (even though I remember the actor being much stronger than scene partner Winona Ryder)
She was amazing in Opening Night but also disappeared into the role
A Woman under the Influence might be the only role she STOOD OUT in - that’s not a knock- it’s an essential quality of repertory theater to know how to calibrate your performance and let the story play
We see this a bunch with character actors but never in leads anymore
Anyway RiP to a great talent

My husband would have no idea either. Even I hadn't realized the Godfather reference.
I have a feeling your eulogy won't gain much traction on a football forum but if our dude members took a look at photos of her in her youth they may have an epiphany.

Most guys on here don’t realize there were films made before Shawshank redemption

Yeah, that's why I attached that "glamour shot" of her. It was pretty hubba hubba!

I completely (and I know this will come as a shock) disagree with you about the breadth of reference that many of you guys here possess pre-'94 pop culture wise.

Similar to Metallica they are vaguely aware there was movies/music before that time - but Shawshank/Metallica are their bedrock
