Well, the story comes from a book (which I haven't read at this point), so I assume there already is a landing. I don't know that for certain as I haven't read it, but I'm guessing the ending already exists.

EDIT: Just found out the author is writing a sequel to the book, so it's possible the plot of the series involves what he hasn't published yet.

I really hope this doesn't turn out to be a GRRM and GoT thing. GRRM claims that the HBO show was not his ending, but they did that ending based on what he told him would be the ending. Sticking the landing is always the hardest part for any show.
