Nah, we were already clearly on that path when the movie released. It was like five years into the era of 9/11 conspiracies, "freedom fries," the rise of Alex Jones, cable news becoming political WWE instead of actual news, and countless other demonstrably idiotic things. Mike Judge was reading the room, not making a lucky guess.
