The Saints are relevant at 3-4, and in the hunt at 4-4 (1 Viewer)

I love the Saints dearly but if the other team gave you 3 fumbles and a 20pt lead and you almost blow it that is not something I want to hang my hat on. The 2nd week in a row turnovers have saved us.. No way no how I would even put the saints and playoffs in the same sentence without a "face palm" emoticon.

Turnovers save all teams that actually win games. That's how you win in the NFL.

The worst teams in the league consistently are at the bottom on takeaways. The best are consistently at the top.

Hold on a second. Let me guess, a few weeks ago you were one of the people complaining that we couldn't force a turnover for nothing and we turn it over way too much. Am I right? So now that we are forcing more turnovers, you want to say "we are being saved" because the other team "gave" us turnovers?

Exactly. Turnovers are part of the game. Some fans were complaining when the defense was not creating turnovers, and now complain for creating turnovers but are because the other team causes them instead of the defense causing the turnovers. It is the offense that is not capitalizing off the turnovers.

Offense scored two touchdowns today off of first half turnovers.

The Saints still haven't played their best football yet so this season is far from over. Teams better watch out as the Saints seem to be playing better each week with more and more confidence. Also will help when we get some players back from injury.

Wait a minute now.. We DO need turnovers but if we can barely win a game with 3 of them what does that say about our team? I'm just trying to be real here with all of this playoff talk. Yes turnovers are part of the game but they normally aren't part of our normal regime. I'm ecstatic that we won and that we are creating turnovers but with 3 turnovers it shouldn't have been as close as it was and against a team with a mediocre record.. Now I will give credit where credit is due this is the 2nd game in a row that we have gotten multiple turnovers. I hope like heck this trend continues but that colts game should have been a beat down and not come down to almost the last possession.

Throwing the ball from the two and having it intercepted really changed the complexion of the game. That would have put the Colts in panic mode and probably would have spiraled from there. This is one of the things that perplexes me about this coaching staff. Those things will get your beat more often than not, and it almost cost us the game.

Thanks for the thread St. Dude!

I like that me thinking, dreaming, and doing the arithmetic relating to our playoff chances has no effect on how this team prepares each week. For all the years in the 80's, 90's, and up to 2006 it is what kept me watching football each week. Hope!

Right now, we're 1 game behind the final playoff spot.

6 win teams - 3
5 win teams - 0
4 win teams - 3

All of the rest of the NFC are 3-4 or worse. We have a winnable schedule (on paper of course) and appear to be on a role.

A wildcard spot doesn't look out of the question at all right now. Lots of football left.

I think you can throw those percentages out this year, at least for right now. Seems like half the NFC is in that 4-3, 3-3, 3-4 zone. Considering how this year started I'll take those odds anytime.

The Saints What If table presents playoff probabilities depended upon how the Saints play future games.

I think we want CAR to win every remaining game, except vs. the Saints. Our division is pretty much out of reach, but we are still in play for a wildcard. There are a ton of teams with 3 or 4 wins. We need the division winners to win big, knocking our wildcard challengers out of contention.

We have to win 10 games. That's the number.

There are too many teams in the hunt and the Falcons are almost assuredly going to win 10+ and get that 5th seed.

Yea I have to agree with that. I think if we can get 10 wins that should be good enough for the 6th spot. 9 wins could still get us in but may need some help along the way. If we do get 10 wins and assuming ATL and Car. take care of business as well. That would be a huge turn around in a year in our division from last year. Last year we sent a team to the playoffs with a losing record and if we can get 10 wins this years that could sent 3 NFC south teams to the playoffs with 10+ wins.
