Think we're going to see much of Devery? (2 Viewers)

I just don't seeing Devery being on this team next year. Just my opinion, but I think he probably looked good in camp so Payton gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to see what he could do when the real bullets were flying. Unfortunately I think he's turning into another Stallworth type player, a player who teases you with this great ability but can't seem to catch the ball consistently. I thought he was coming around but now it looks like he's back to his old ways. He's your typical Haslett type player and guy with all the measurebles but not much else.

Stallworth and Henderson are nothing alike!!!

Stallworth actually produced half of the time and actually showed star potential. Henderson has shown no star potential and has yet to produce a glimmer of what Stallworth showed in his first 4 games as a pro.

As much as I hate to say it, Henderson can officialy be labled a bust in 9 more games...

The Mike D, "he's a nervous wreck" comment speaks volumes. He's the opposite of Colston, who has great confidence. Don't know if Devery's potential will outlast Payton's impatience with mistakes.

If J Brown cant go would it be better for us to back them off by spredding the field with 3WR sets?

We need to put some speed out there to make safteys pull back.

If for nothing else to free up Horn and Colston.

Why is the board so quick to turn against Devery? First game back from injury against a great defense and he didn't have a good game. He isn't the only receiver that has dropped balls this year. Horn has also dropped some balls in critical situations. And whomever is suggesting that Copper is a #3 WR was probably saying that Hass should start at the beginning of the year. Devery is the #3 WR and I expect a big game from him vs. the Bucs.

I was wondering where you were. What took you so long to get into the mix?

I say we give Lewis a shot he can't be that bad. He can stetch the field.:9:

I can catch better than Devrey but the stretching the defense is the problem, maybe if i fall on on them i can stretch it. :ezbill: :smilielol:

I remember seeing Beerman pull in some 35 yd TD bombs from Aaron a couple years ago. I agree, give him a shot he's hungry and i bet he won;t let us down.

i don't know but we need to get back to running the ball

+1 although when we do throw the ball, I too believe we need to throw the deep ball more to back defenses off. We have been using the short passes too much and look what the Raven's did. Now everyone else will be ready for the short stuff.

Even though I don't think there is anything to add........I think that Devery will be a goner aswell next year.In this league there isn't time to wait for a light to go on for some of these players.I kind of like the idea of the guys we have now catching the passes thrown to them.I can't stand seeing 3rd down drops, and I bet that Payton can't either.I don't see Devery getting on the field again this year.Alot of players come in to this league with all the speed, but you can't thrive on that alone. If you can't catch the ball consistently then you aren't gonna play. The same goes for Stecker.......If your nervous at this time in your career than you have to check your self.

Homerism is the antithesis of of fanatacism. If we want to be the best team possible, we must put aside the purple and gold glasses and put the best players on the field. Notice, I did not say the best athletes, as Haslett has been doing that for years, and where did it get us?

I stated during TC reports that Henderson looked like he wasn't going to cut it and I got ripped for it, especially after he had the one good game. I personally don't care if a player came from LSU or Podunc U. I don't care whether they are black, white, or green. If a player doesn't produce consistently, cut him. I still think that eventually, Mike Hass will be a player to be reckoned with and we let him go. Zach Hilton catches everything, and we let him go.

I'm ready to put someone in that can get separation and catch the ball. I don't care how much they can stretch the field. You score just as many points with a TD produced by a well oiled West Coast spread 'em out and pick apart the defense gameplan as you do with a TD produced by a bomb that gets behind everyone and puts your defense right back on the field.

Devery dropped a 5 yd. dump-off vs. the Ravens that would've turned into big yardage. Something he is doing in practice is not winning Payton's confidence. He looked really good in the first few games..........that's what's mind boggling.

Agreed, I thought this was the year he was going to head in the right direction just by making the cuts this year. He started off great hopefully he can get it back together because he could really complete the offense. A 4wr set with Colston,Horn, Henderson and Lewis would be interesting if everyone was on the same page.
