I don't understand the lack of urgency from everyone.

Avalanches can bring trees at you at 80mph. Then you suffocate in the snow if you survive that.

I was like why am I watching Faces of Death and no one is panicking.

My best guess is that they thought they were far away enough - and also they appear to be standing in front of a pretty well developed area and a sizable structure. Perhaps that gave them a sense that they were fine. They may have actually been okay for the most part - hard to tell. Certainly more than they bargained for.
