This offseason (speculation)? (1 Viewer)

Kinda saints news ... I know saints don’t want to offer Brees this amount ..this kinda gives the Brees camp leverage now. Be interesting to see how this plays out

I don't see it. He has a 20 mil cap hit no matter what. Even though I think its time to move on, I can live with him coming back but not with that kinda money. We'll still be paying for his cap hit even as we audition the next QB.

I have to be honest, I’ve got the suspicion this will be a big offseason. There is a lot of smoke right now. Sean building up Taysom when he is going into Restricted Free Agency, lots of big contracts coming up.

Cam has been putting a lot of cryptic tweets out lately. I think we should all prepare ourselves for a big move with a player we love.

I’m not saying anything crazy will happen, but Sean and Loomis have shown they aren’t afraid to make the big moves if they think they are necessary.
Cam just got a big contract so he isn't going anywhere. I doubt he knows what SP/ML are thinking either.
I'm in agreement that they are on a wait and see for Drew.

I feel we got a pretty good deal on Cam so of course I hope he doesn't go anywhere....but a new contract doesn't necessarily mean you can't be traded. Ask Jimmy Graham.

$25m dead money on our cap to trade Cam says you're wrong.

I didn't look at the specifics of his contract. I'm just saying in general a new contract doesn't mean a player isn't getting traded. Jimmy Graham says that's right.

So yeah, if you ignore facts..

If the post I was responding to said "he won't be traded because he'd have 25mil in dead money" that would be great. It said he won't be traded because he just signed an extension with no details. That's not a good enough reason because we have traded players less than a year after signing a big extension. Add the details of 25mil (OTC says 23) in dead money to it and I will agree.

Very gracious

Hey guys calm down lol, I was just speculating on what pieces we could/would move. His tweets were just out there so it played into my paranoia. Nothing to get worked up about.

But converting most of his salary for 2020 into a new signing bonus in mid December says your wrong. As it stands he now has a 9.1 million cap hit this year and a 23.65 if traded.

It almost has to be. We cannot continue sacrificing the longterm foundation of our team to pay a few players.
