I was looking at the other thought excercise and thought this would be a good question as well. If Moore is hired does he lead with Carr , Rattler, FA, while we get the cap right? Same with Kafka. Which QB could excel under either coach or do we just start from scratch and wait for the guy?

My pick would be

Moore: Rattler and see what you get
Kafka: Carr would prefer a veteran presence

I think you let them compete in TC.

What we know about Rattler was coming out of pre-season Haener was ahead. When we saw Rattler's 1st start and then eventually Haener's relief game it was still clear that Haener was ahead. The next time we saw Haener and then Rattler in relief and his subsequent games, Rattler had surpassed Haener and it wasn't close.

Let them compete and if Rattler can surpass him you start him, if he doesn't you let Carr play. Competition never hurt anyone, unless it bruised their ego and they likely deseve to be benched anyway at that point because the Ego shouldn't come before the team.

I think Carr will be the starter next year regardless. He is the best QB we have on the roster (not saying that much), but we cannot cut him without eating a bunch of dead cap $$.
Rattler may get a shot as the year progresses if DC isn't producing wins.
If Carr's contract is left untouched he would cost $1.5 million less to cut that it would to keep him. Yes, you don't have the player, but he would be off the books for 2026 as well.

So, the question is do you leave it untouched and cut him and then draft a QB for less $$ and start Rattler or the rookie?

Giants are rumored to be interested in trading for Carr, if they would send a late round pick we could trade him there and save around 10 million with no dead money on the cap next year.

Problem comes trying to shed the other 40 million to get under the cap, likely means new contracts for Cam, Demario and Tyrann

If it were me, I'd do everything that it took to cut him and play Rattler or a Rookie. That would still require moving some bad money around and probably losing a few mid tier players. But continuing to have Carr be a $50 cap hit this year and then another $28m next year seems crazy to me.

I think one mechanism that could work is converting some players base salary to option bonuses that trigger after June 1 and then we could designate Carr a June 1 cut to spread out his cap hit and still have room to not make all of the other contracts horrible for future years.

It wouldn't be as hard as you think if it was $40m instead of $50m. That last $10m is where things get very difficult.

I would imagine Carr would be the favorite not because of salary but because of experience. I think this is one of the more interesting things to watch this spring and summer. What interests me is who the back up is going to be.

Man what a decision to have to make. All 3 of those guys are over the hill. I have no idea what cutting them would cost but I would try to trade them if at all possible. I am sure Loomis could restructure them and then cut them or trade them. I don't have a clue about the cap and how it works never really cared about that end of football.

It is hard to get a read on Moore's system as its been different in each location( a good thing in my opinion shows growth) Would it work better with a statue like Carr, resembling his charger offenses, or does he tailor his offense to suit Rattler with increased mobility? Barring cap implications, trades, money etc. would he follow a hurts model or would he go back to the dak/herbert style? Would he be willing to hitch his name to rattler for a season or run it back with the safe veteran? I just am having trouble wrapping my brain around Moore's offense tendencies

You have to think Moore would want 'his' guy, its not like Carr is a bonafide superstar that's locked into the starting QB spot, cap aside

Heck pickett wouldn't surprise me
