Speculation Thought Excercise: Which QB gets the nod with Moore or Kafka (21 Viewers)

As much as been said about him here, it really just seems like he was a tick the box interview. All signs point to Moore now.
After listening to his interviews and pedigree with Andy Reid, he would be my pick. You can’t look at the Giants this year with no QB but what he did his 1st year. Also , he’s the assistant head coach in NY so that somewhat gives him head coaching credibility

What he did in his first year also wasn't good. His offenses have been in the bottom half of the league statistically all three years with the Giants. The more I look into him the more puzzling the interest in him is.

Giants are rumored to be interested in trading for Carr, if they would send a late round pick we could trade him there and save around 10 million with no dead money on the cap next year.

They are not. The media just ran with a couple sentences out of an article that mentioned 12 different potential QB options for the giants. It was all speculation.

This is what started all of that talk.

“The trade avenue could also be an option. The future of Derek Carr in New Orleans is one that could come into question. Nothing should be ruled out.”

You have to think Moore would want 'his' guy, its not like Carr is a bonafide superstar that's locked into the starting QB spot, cap aside

Heck pickett wouldn't surprise me
I agree, but what is his current salary as a backup? We don't need to make unnecessary expenditures due to our cap and various roster holes (I'm not claiming Kenny is expensive). He's adapted to Dak, Cooper, Justin, and Jalen, so why not just roll with Carr (he can coach up Ratt on the side).
Despite my Carr criticisms, I do think he gives us the best shot at a winning season next year, unless the plan is to unofficially tank for a QB.

C’mon. If Kafka had Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley instead of Tommy Devito and whoever I bet the result would be a lot different.

I think you let them compete in TC.

What we know about Rattler was coming out of pre-season Haener was ahead. When we saw Rattler's 1st start and then eventually Haener's relief game it was still clear that Haener was ahead. The next time we saw Haener and then Rattler in relief and his subsequent games, Rattler had surpassed Haener and it wasn't close.

Let them compete and if Rattler can surpass him you start him, if he doesn't you let Carr play. Competition never hurt anyone, unless it bruised their ego and they likely deseve to be benched anyway at that point because the Ego shouldn't come before the team.
I agree with you, and I'll add that Carr is also clearly the best QB on the team, and better than half of starting QBs. We are heavily invested in Carr, and he is plenty good enough, but he needs a better supporting cast. If we swallow his salary, we will not just lose Carr, but a lof of other players. It wouldn't just set us back 1 year, it would set us back many years, and it is needless. If he were a terrible QB, I would agree that we wouldn't have a choice, but he is a good QB, who started with a good supporting cast with no depth. The offensive line was a mash unit most of the year, and the depth was poor. Taysom had an injury riddled year, and he was our most important offensive player. We know we have fragile starters, so we need to add good depth. If the drop-off isn't so large, we may have a good offense next year. I feel better about Rattler and Haener as backups next year, but we need better depth practically every where else on offense.

If.

If he were a good OC he would have more to show for it. You can "if and but" all you want but the guy hasn't proven much of anything. And he's had plenty of time to do so.

Not to mention he literally did have Saquon. Stuck with Danny Dimes over an MVP nominee.

I think you have to start Carr to kick off the season…. Try to win games…. And if he gets hurt or it starts to look like another 4 or 5 win season…. You go with Spencer the rest of the year to see if he can develop into the future at QB. I’d also bring in another veteran QB in the offseason for insurance.

I would prefer if they cut Carr and give Rattler a full season. Clearly if you go this route your going to be fielding a much worse team, but I think it's far better to have a rough 25 season, while you evaluate Rattler and continue to get cap under control.

All depends on what Moore sold them on. I truly belive that Loomis is still in a sort of win now mode. I think he wants to field mostly the same team fight for a NFC South title and then say "I told you it was the injuries". So unless Moore was able to sell him on a soft reset, it's going to largely feel very similar to last year. Without the injury bug we will win a few more games but still fall short of playoffs.

I would hope if it winds up being Moore (or whoever) that there is a QB competition between Rattler and Carr (I think Haener is done here) and he starts and plays the winner of said competition....
