Thoughts on Reliant Stadium? (1 Viewer)

Very attractive, although I wish all stadiums would quit the music and dumb promos between plays. It was very easy to find our seats, and the view was great even though we were only a few rows from the top. I do hope that stadiums this fancy don't become the norm, because going to a game there is VERY expensive, IMO. Gorgeous facility, however!

I agree with my other half: the stadium looks great and the view of the field was terrific (except that in Houston, people never stay in their seats - what's up with that? I thought people go to a game to watch it, not climb up and down the stairs the whole game), but the annoying, non-stop NOISE from the speakers (called music and promos) couldn't have been any more annoying. That garbage makes me want to stay home and watch games, not go to the stadiums. They kept putting up songs that were "fan picks" and encouraging people to send in suggestions. Well, I have one: TURN OFF THE CRAPPY MUSIC! Let me talk to the people I came to the game with and be able to myself think, for crying out loud.

Also, Optimus Saint and I agreed that the seats are TOO SMALL - and they are hard and decidedly not comfortable. They were like high school theater seats. The Superdome has them beat hands down on that.

Finally, slightly off topic, I had to laugh when they announced the paid attendance and said it was "an NFL record in Houston football history." There's no way there were 70,000 whatever actually in the stadium. I couldn't believe how many empty seats there were, especially in the middle levels, not to mention how many people had left by the middle of the fourth quarter. I mean, they're team was winning, for crying out loud, and they took off. Football FANS don't do that. They stick around enjoy every minute. Real hard cases like us stay until the last second even when our team is getting pounded. We'd NEVER leave when we're winning unless the EMS guys were pulling us out on a stretcher (even then, if we were conscious, we'd be asking them to wait).

EDIT: I looked back and noticed I mostly jujst put my complaints, so to be fair:
I have to compliment them on those monstrous screens at each end zone. Totally awesome picture on those things that are probably bigger than my house.

I really like the hallways outside the stadium. Big, spacious, and all the windows make it seem even bigger. A nice atmosphere out there.
Also, the variety of food vendors out there was excellent, way better than the Superdome and most stadiums.

A couple of notes...the annoying noise between plays isn't exclusive to Reliant; it seems to be the trend in stadiums everywhere (and not just football, either).

Second, I have to say again that finding and getting to our seats was extremely easy. But maybe too easy, considering the number of people who kept going up and down the aisles DURING THE PLAYS....

tenordas is right. the seats are too small and hard. not enough legroom. maybe its just because people in new orleans tend to be overweight, but i think the seats in the dome are a lot better.

the concourses are nice, too nice. i think thats why everyone gets out of their seats a lot. if i had to choose between being uncomfortably wedged between a 300lb guy and a giant robot (like the pretty blonde texan fan sitting next to me) or going to the concourse and walk around, id choose the concourse too. theres lots of TV screens, and they actually tape off an area for you to stand behind the seating areas to watch the game. and you can see the field from there.

the concorse was very cool. easy to get beer food, and bathroom. seats were a bit small. now i see why benson is complaining about the dome.

The stadium itself is beautiful. However, the extra garbage that comes along with watching a game there is difficult to tolerate. The CONSTANT advertising and excessively loud music between plays really takes away from the experience of watching the game. For my tastes, there is simply too much "gimmicky" stuff going on in that stadium to make it a fun day. The computer generated bulls, the lame first down yell, and the ongoing promotions are enough to keep me away. Dont get me wrong, the stadium itself is fantastic. It is the superfluous stuff that will keep me on my couch watching any further games at Reliant.

Wonderful view. However we were located under a air conditioner vent. Constant artic blast. I almost died of a combination of hypothermia and frostbite.

i loved it. i thought the seats were fine and leg room was sufficient. had a great view of the game. more choices for refreshments i think i've ever seen at a sporting event. it was a great atmosphere, and on top of that the stadium was easy to find and get of.

the one drawback in my opinion was the audio system, too loud and obnoxious.

I thought that Stadium outside and inside looks outstanding. The seats were a bit small, but I'm a skinny guy so that didn't bother me to much. The concourse was unbelievably beautiful! That stadium is a work of art. Now time for things I didn't like. The Texans fans were good people, but I don't think they know how to act at a football game. The crowd noise in that Stadium was completely fake. They didn't have enough Texans fans to make all the noise they were making. The promos and advertisings....drove me crazy. I have never seen so much advertising in my life. It was so darn annoying! It was my first road game, so it was enjoying but I don't think I will be going back to a Houston road game...
