I was just thinking...... the other day i had a basket hit my car and it got me to thinking how many people actually return their shopping carts. I was just wondering how many people actually take the time to return their shopping cart to the proper location?

(Damn the off season sucks!)

maybe not always the proper location (like if i just put my kid in the car), but i will always get it out for the way
and before the kid i usually put my cart up and any other cart that was nearby

Im at least 95% at putting it where it belongs. Maybe 98%. Once in a great while I get lazy or Im in a rush and dont.

At walmart they have those cart holder things that take up parking spaces all over the lot so im usually right by one and ill push it in there but i dont walk it all the way back to the door.. If we all did, what would the cart retrievers do at work??

I return my cart every time. I used to work out in the lot at Home Depot, so I know a thing or two about collecting carts.

I worked there for about 5 years while I went to college, (in the lot for about 6 months) I had a few battle scars from rolling carts on my old pickup. I ALWAYS return my cart.

I do sometimes. Depends on if I have my kids with me. If I'm by myself, I usually do. If I have my 2 kids with me, and I'm by my self,I ususally don't, unless i'm parked right next to one. If there is a buggy by my van when I park, I usually grab that one to put my kids in. So I guess it evens out.

Id say 98% of the time I do....Its really not that hard to do, and takes what...30 seconds?

I do not, however, shop at China-Mart. Id be more then happy to fill thier lot haphazardly with shopping carts from other stores, though. :9:

Stupidity is rampant out there.
- a few years back, the wife and I were @ the grocery and mother-in-law happened to be there @ the same time (we live near each other). We were walking MIL to her car to help her load up her groceries and as we approach we see a 60+ woman blatantly push her cart from 10-15 feet away directly into MIL's suburban. She had walked about the same distance from her car, then pushed right into the side of the SUV.
Now... I'm really a nice guy. I am. I believe while *evil* does exist out there, that people inherently have some good in them. This (w)itch was just nasty and since I'm an equal opportunity jerk when the time calls for it, I went off on the woman. I don't care that she's 60-something. I don't care that she's a woman (I wasn't going to hit her!), but I won't hold back when someone goes out of there way to harm someone or something that belongs to me or those I care about.
I called her just about every name in the book with as many degrading adjectives that I could think of. I threatened to call the police and really scared her when I pointed to the parking lot cameras on the poles and front of the building to prove that they could see what she had done.

After further inspection, we determined she had gotten lucky and the bottom of the basket bounced off of the tire. There was no dent, and no scratch, but I can guarantee she'll think twice about being that person in the future.

Maybe I'm naive, maybe I'm just a sucker hoping that people *want* to be good. But I just can't understand what causes someone to act like that. You're ******. I understand, you want to break or hit something... Just go do it to your own crap. Don't bust up another persons stuff b/c your life sucks.

With that said, I always return my cart if I'm alone, or at least get it out of the way if my son is in the car with me.

So 90% of the people who have voted in this thread say they return the carts. Yet when I go to the grocery store 90% of carts are floating around free. Methinks some of you are filthy liars.

Maybe the filthy cart abandoners cant read or dont visit this site for some other reason?

Most of the time ill bring it back to one of the little basket station places in the parking lot. But sometimes its late, or Im in a hurry, ill just leave it to the side of my car.

Sometimes its actually convenient..as soon as you park, theres a basket waiting for you right next to your car. You dont have to struggle to take one of the HUGE lines of baskets, when they are all tightly packed together.

Heres another issue...what is it with carts nowadays. Is it just me or is every one I get a complete piece of ****. I know they are refurbishing most of their stores now, but Wal-Mart is like a jillion dollar company, you would think they could supply us with some decent baskets that dont veer to the right, or are impossible to turn left, or the front left wheel doesnt turn...etc

The Wal-Mart on Tchopitoulas has got the absolute worse carts on the planet. i dont think there is one good basket in that store.

OK, thats the end of my Wal-Mart basket rant...
