To those who think we got "hosed" on the trade up or "mortgaged the future" (1 Viewer)

Didn't watch day 2 of the draft. Saw the ticker, though, and a question mark went off in my head when we picked a RB. We JUST added AP. With Ingram, Cadet, and LAST year's drafted RB, exactly when do we expect to be able to see this guy on the field?

AND, we traded UP to pick him? I hate the way these people run their draft. We were told that this year's draft was so deep, we'd surely be able to answer our needs. RB was not a need, but, we traded away a high-to-mid-round 2nd (because 7-9 is now looking optimistic) and a 7th for a player we did not need. What about that pass rush we desperately need? I suspect that when we get our final grade for this draft, it's not going to be good.

We didn't trade up to get him. A second next year has the same value as a third this year. Not more. And he will play. He is a totally different back than Ingram and AP. He will be our third down back.

Oh

You all can understand the Kamara pick but when we were asking for McCaffrey almost all of you were like that's too high... Not for a 3rd down back but yet he gets picked at 8...

Hahahaha... You guys are really just fans

Open your eyes

We are just fans and you are what?

I still think it's stupid taking a third down back at 8.

...Using the rule of thumb that a pick next year is worth a pick this year one round lower,...

2017 NFL Draft Trade Value Chart

.

Well, there's the problem - why is next year's Round 2 worth less than this year's Round 2????

Come next year, that Round 2 pick will be just as valuable as any other year's Round 2 pick...

Because a year from now the third rounder you took this year will be a player with one year of pro experience and training. The guy you take next year in the second will still be a rookie.

Love the pick. We finally got out joker. And looking at next year's group of RBs I don't see a RB like Kamara being around in the 2nd. Next year is weak as far as joker backs go.

And I don't think Kamara should be labeled as just a pass catching, satellite back. This guy can run the football too. He has it all except great size.

We should be investing in the future so we will be rich in picks down the line like the smart teams do. Instead we Payton and Loomis are buying heels on the credit card and bragging that it was a sale. I don't care if the heels were on sale. We just bought a luxury, a role player, on the credit card of higher future picks. It is inexcusable. It is weak. It is the Atlanta Falcons way.

Kamari, a heel? Lol. Sure, if you say so. :jpshakehead:

Not liking giving up future picks is understandable, but cut the dramatics. Kamara is a good player and not a "luxury."

When we win the Super Bowl next year our second round pick will be only 3 picks before the pick we acquired. I think the Saints are absolutely killing this draft!

Think of it as a payday loan with a low interest rate (7th rd pick). We just got to use it this year. Its not like we "lost" a pick!! We picked up a player with a 2nd rd grade that we value more because of how well he fits our system... I am excited!!

Dude, as soon as Kamara was drafted, Cadet started emailing his resume around the league.
