Todd Grantham has to go (1 Viewer)

His philosophy doesn’t mesh up. Allen is right in that we’re losing the LOS on both sides of the ball but the offense being down 3 players has an excuse. The DLine is the deepest and healthiest it’s been in years and the production is not there.

Go look at how the Dline played under Nielsen and fast forward to how we’ve played under Grantham.

It’s atrocious, and if I recall when hired Allen mentioned how they saw things the same way w/ fronts and coverages so I’m almost sure he’s responsible for some of these ineffective 3rd down packages.

I’ve seen enough, guys can’t get off blocks, things look disjointed. Relieve him ASAP.
Man, I think you picked the wrong day for this post. I agree with you completely and I didn't like the hire but everything today is going to get (understandably) spammed with fire DA responses.

You should bump this around Tuesday :)

The DL has been trending downhill for years. It's why we got rid of Nielsen in the first place. In fact, Granderson didn't develop until we got rid of Nielsen.

You of course mean the Tuesday after DA gets fired? :)

I'm pretty sure Nielsen was the one who developed Granderson and we didn't really get rid of him as much as he took the DC job in Atlanta. He's not the DC in Jacksonville. Kris Richard was the guy we let go.

My recollection is that Granderson got here in 2017 but wasn't much of a player until Neilsen started to develop him in starting in 2019.

He did get better every year but he wasn't a starting DE until after Nielsen left. The fact is the DL has been trending downhill like I said for years and sure, Grantham hasn't made it better, but the trend started before he joined us and it's kept going downhill save for Granderson.

I'm not sure Nielsen is as good as we thought he was but I do think our DL has gotten worse under Grantham than it was under Nielsen. Some of that is Cam getting old, but Grantham hasn't done anything with Foskey or Turner and while Breese is flashing with sacks every now and then he hasn't really improved in the run game and he hasn't been consistent in pass rush.

Again, the downhill trajectory started with Nielsen. Our DL hasn't been good in something like 4 years. It's probably the scheme. No one would be successful down here so long as DA is calling the shots.

I didn't see the OP's post as attempting to protect DA. More like if DA is still here after last night's game, he's not going anytime soon. So how about putting a tourniquet on at least one of our bleeding limbs. And I think it's fixable as EJW pointed out.

Yeah, DA is the top level issue and we all want him gone, but why express it (and some do) in every post on any subject. We get it. We all agree.

The D-line is the most underachieving and disappointing group. At least find out if the players actually are worth anything or not. I have a hard time believing Granderson has regressed that much. I believe Bresee is talented. I also wonder if Nieslen could get more out of Young or is this his actual ceiling.

I don’t think people realize how critical I was, and still am of Allen. What I’ve come to understand through research is why Loomis is going to be patient w/ Allen.

It’s a waste of energy to get caught in the “fire Allen” hoopla and it makes me an enemy of the people.

He’s not going anywhere, so I don’t waste time making post about it. It’s not that I’m in denial about him lol, it’s I’m cognizant of the reality. Loomis is not going to make an emotional decision and fire him.

He’s also protecting him because he knows how much of a *poop show* this team had gotten to before he accepted the job.

Last 5 game losing streak was under Payton :/.

Nielsen is the DC in Jacksonville.

Joe Woods is the DC in name only and Grantham is the D-Line coach. I don't know how familiar they are with coaching a 4-3 defense. All I know is before they came here, they were always associated with 3-4 defenses. Maybe they need to coach a defense that they're accustomed to running. This is definitely not working. To top it off it was DA that decided he wanted to go to a smaller defensive front 4 years ago and that's not working either. We're getting run though and run over and around. I keep banging the table for a real NT that can clog the middle and stuff the run. What makes no sense to me is you have 3 DC's in DA, Woods and Grantham and they can't figure out how to coach a defense REALLY!!!. I don't know maybe they're all trying to undermine each other and it's causing confusion with the players out on the field. But there is a problem somewhere between those 3. Somebody please explain it to me, because I just don't know anymore.

Loomis is not going to make an emotional decision and fire him.
But it is not an emotional decision when the statistics support the firing. That's a decision based on facts in a business and sport where you are judged on wins and losses. There's simply no nuance there.

I contend that keeping him is the more emotional decision of the two.
