Tom Pelissero: Bill Belichick has Heard from Multiple Teams to Gauge Interest in Coaching Jobs (1 Viewer)

I don't see why there isn't some kind of rule to prevent these kinds of things. Like once you take a job, college or pros, you aren't allowed to talk to other teams/schools for one calendar year, unless you are fired before then. Wasn't it Kingsbury, who took the USC offensive coordinator job, then like a week later got offered the Cardinals head coaching position, and bailed? I don't think coaches should be able to keep "shopping around" after they've made a commitment and signed on the dotted line. I'm cool with using other offers/interest as leverage for a better deal where you are, but it just seems wrong to me to be able to leave without having done anything for the place that wanted you in the first place, and committed to you, just for you to bail, and leave them in the lurch.

Am I too old school? :)

It sounds like both sides agreed to a buyout for this instance. If they both agreed what’s the problem?
