Tom Pelissero: Bill Belichick has Heard from Multiple Teams to Gauge Interest in Coaching Jobs (2 Viewers)

Just like us everyday folks, if we're in the job market and accept a job then a week later another better position opens up with more pay and better benefits and more time off, aren't we allowed to make that move? Just because they are on the public sphere doesn't mean they don't have the same options that we do, the difference is we are not beholden to pay off to move jobs. If he wants to do it, then by all means, make the move.

It sounds like both sides agreed to a buyout for this instance. If they both agreed what’s the problem?

I suppose. If that is the case though, and I was UNC, and at the last minute my soon to be hire was like "Oh by the way, there needs to be a buyout clause because I might be leaving in a month," I'd say deal's off, take a flying leap, I want someone who wants to be here and build something. After this season would make more sense, which is why why I like my one calendar year idea. Let Bill have a winning season, prove himself, win a Bowl game, show he's still got it, etc. and THEN if NFL teams come calling, it's reasonable that we'd need to talk and reassess.

Why? Are some owners so lazy they just want a big name? I understand Vrabel, but Bill is way past his prime.
