Too many injuries.. (1 Viewer)

That’s fair - but where was this “Dennis Allen Football” in weeks 1 and 2?

Could it be that Dennis Allen, like most coaches, is able to do a hell of a lot more when key offensive and defensive personnel aren’t on the bench or in the tent or street clothes?

It’s not coping when you have actually seen the difference between a healthy 2024 Saints and one scraping a roster together from the practice squad and waiver wire.

We're still in position to win these games easily despite injuries. We had leads late in games and awful defensive playcalls in late game situations gave the game to both the Eagles and the Falcons. He can't close out games. Look at his record in 1 score games since becoming our head coach. This is just who he is.

He botched the 3rd and 16 vs Philly, and he botched the 2nd and 10 vs Atlanta. There's no justifiable reason to be in tight man coverage in either of those situations. I thought the 3rd and 16 last week was awful, but somehow he tops it this week. You simply can't call a defense that puts any DBs back to the QB when there are 30 seconds left, no timeouts, and they need 30 yards for a FG range. You simply play off, make a tackle in bounds, and the game is over barring a 30+ yard completion.

He's not a rookie head coach anymore. He made these mistakes as a defensive coordinator costing us playoff games, and he he continues to do so as our head coach. These are elementary level mistakes.

Both sides.. You simply can't overcome losing that many pieces. Combine that with 14 gifted points and you have what you have here today. If you're going to build your entire offensive game plan around 1 player, and it falls apart when he goes out, that's not a solid game plan.

This team still struggles with coaching and it shows in crunch time moments. Fwiw, I guess a C+ goes to Kubiak for making changes in the 4th to get us the points we needed. But, you just knew that with a minute left, they were going to heave it downfield and we'd get a PI call.

On to the next one I guess.. It's a damn shame, because we gave this game away on both sides of the ball today.
I believe the Saints staff would love to have another reliable weapon or two besides Taysom Hill. But guys like him are as scarce as hen’s teeth. Great wide receivers, running back, and tight ends aren’t waiting around their telephone waiting for you to call them to help you save your season.

Taysom will never be 100% healthy the rest of this season, nor will many of his supporting cast. Everyone has to up their game if the Saints are going to be able to contend this year. But the injury bug has not finished biting this team in 2024. It’s simply going to be ‘one step forward and two steps back’ until we face elimination once again. 😢
