Top 10 reasons why Sean Smith should be a Saint (1 Viewer)

i read it as trading Meachem and our 5th to get back into the 2nd...not trading Meachem for a 2nd and a 5th.

I see that now, but even so, I STILL wouldn't touch that deal with a 10ft pole. I doubt Matt Millen would go for that.

I mean we all have homerism up to the eyeballs and to us Meachem has all the potential in the world. But the other 31 GMs of the league don't see it that way, they see an underachieving 1st rounder due 1st rounder money that a 7th round draft pick and a UDFA beat him on the depth chart, among others.

or maybe they could see that that udrafted free agent was no scrub catching for 900 yards and 10 TDs ranking amongs the best in the division on an offense that has very few balls to go around with the amount of playmakers that we have.

and when did AA beat him out on the depth chart? i destinctly remember him outplaying him in the preseason last year against the cards.

wasn't talking about AA. If someone actually offered that much for meach I'd be estatic, but its not going to happen, we give up a 5th and him and we might get into the middle of the 3rd, maybe. He has a very low trade value, this isn't Madden. In his 2nd year he still didn't have the playbook down.

Honestly, tell me. If you were a GM, what would you give up for a guy that it would take at least two years to learn the playbook, and was making 1st rounder money?

Robert meachem is 24, fast, athletic, and really good after the catch and still possesses very good upside.

meachem struggled to gain ground here in new orleans because he had several seasoned veterans ahead of him on the depthchart with more experience.

if he were traded now he'd be in a situation with a new team where he'd have a leg up on any rookie that could be drafted in the second round.

meachem has struggled in new orleans mainly because of the complex offensive system that we run here which demands much more detail to precision and timing than in other more simplistic offenses. Ball controll teams like the cheifs, jaguars, seahawks or the bears could really use someone like meach along with a 4-5th rounder over the likes of percy harvin, kenny britt, or hakim nicks.

We must agree to disagree, sir. I'm firm in my opinion that another GM will not gamble on him. For the Saints's sake I hope he blows up in 09

So that Sean Smith...he's some player, eh?

i like him a lot.

the reason that i mentioned the meach trade is because i would loooooooove for the saints to work out a scenario that would allow for us to get both

1)william moore

-----and---

2)sean smith
