Saints beat writer Mike Triplett believes that coach Sean Payton's interest in Ohio State RB Beanie Wells is "bona fide" and "not a smokescreen."
Triplett also calls tailback one of the Saints' three biggest needs, along with outside linebacker and safety. New Orleans picks 14th and we suspect Wells will be there. The Saints have no second-round pick, however, and it would be surprising if they drafted offense with their only first-day choice.

Just passing along some more speculation.

Regardless of what happens I feel like we've overhauled the defense a lot from last year. I also think much has to come from our DL to make the difference people are hoping for. So I could care less one way or another which way we go in the draft. It's going to be a good pick regardless. I hope it's BPA over need because I think that's how most drafts should go.

If the Saints drafted Beanie Wells with 14, but managed to draft both Derek Pegues and Zach Follett in the 4th, would people still be mad?

I'd be pretty happy with that draft.

I'd rather have Malcolm Jenkins or another 1st round CB talent..but Wells wouldn't upset me..defenses will be getting pounded in the 4th Q.

I thought this was common knowledge.:idunno:

Would be perfect.

I could live very happily with that draft.

We need 1st round talent on defense. So no, I would be ****** off.
