Yeah but they would risk multiple lawsuits if something really happened to anyone during a major storm.

It doesn't seem like gusts up to 45 mph should be considered to be a 'major storm'.
Most people get worse than that during an average frontal passage.

LA gets speeds like that regularly with Santa Ana winds. I don't live there so I don't know if they cancel/postpone anything due to those winds.

As long as the area isn't on fire, the winds from that storm shouldn't create any problems at all.
And LA probably could use some of the rain from that tropical system.

I get your point and acknowledge that it’s somewhat tongue-in-cheek - but to clarify for the folks who have this opinion about cancellations - It’s not the people’s safety inside the stadium that’s the concern overall.

It’s that the fans and the hundreds of workers and support staff getting to and from that stadium in a potential severe weather situation.

It’s the same reason school gets cancelled due to icy roads. The school itself is just fine - you just might die trying to get to it.
