I posted someting like this in the game day thread but want to know if others have noticed the lack of good replays of some critical plays.

In the past is seemed like there were replays of almost evey play and multiple replays of critical/questionable plays but now sometimes there are no replays of even critial/questionable plays.

Also it would be nice if the play-by-play guy would say "flag in the defense backfield" or "flag in the offense backfield" instead of just "there's a flag". For some reason this really bothers me.

Hey we were yelling at the TV about it. Particularly that penalty on the FG when Rizzi was going crazy. It took forever for the announcers to tell us what the penalty was not less give us a replay (which never happened)

They gave a few replays and brought in the ex official to break down why it was a penalty. It did take a little bit though.

My dad thinks they didn’t know what happen because they didn’t see the penalty on the replay.

It wasn't just that play, the pass play that looked like the ball hit the gound was another.

It just seems that this year the replay quality is down. There was a TD last week that there was no replay at all was shown that looked like a stop but the replay assitant called a TD.

just saw a major example of this on SNF
Seattle QB was getting stacked - ball seemed to slip out of his hands before arm coming forward (he was facing sideways as well)
ball hits off defenders arm and goes forward maybe 5 yards
Collinsworth was quick to say incomplete - they hustled whichever rules analyst sock puppet works SNF and he was quick to agree with CC - they go to commercial for the challenge (after showing another angle that was nowhere close to conclusive
and they come back from break and say challenge was denied

i'm like 72% sure it was a fumble

If where talking about bad officiating the Saints likely should not have scored that last TD. The clock just stops at 9 seconds left for no reason for maybe 4-5 seconds. Pretty sure the broadcaster did not even catch it.

Agreed on the reply business. I do like Vilma though.

I was at the game and we never got an explanation. There were never flags. Just heard a bunch of booing. I had to text people watching the game to find out why they got another chance at a field goal

I feel the same about replays in the Dome, either they don't show them at all. The angles they show don't show the play. It could definitely be beneficial to us if our coaches got the replays on the big screen IMO.

Less replays equals more commercials.

This feels like a business decision. I DVR the NFL, so I can fast forward through the commercials, but then they’ll pause mid-game & do a picture-in-picture commercial.

Sometimes they cut to commercials so fast that we miss on field plays. It leaves little time for commentators to do analysis of replays. But it is profitable.

Today’s NFL would hate John Madden diving deep into analysis. They’d prefer a word from their sponsor.

The product suffers as profits are squeezed at the expense of story. Story is why I watch. I only tolerate the commercials to see the story. I wonder when will the commercials become bigger than the game? Then I remember all the hype of SUPERBOWL ADS.

I’ll enjoy this story while I can. But I won’t lie to myself when those commercials have stolen too much of my attention.

Too many of the replays are from the crappy skycam endzone view anyway. If endzone views are so great why do you have to pay extra to sit on the sidelines?
