Underhill: Saints talking with FA wide receivers (2 Viewers)

that's the market for WR in this pass happy NFL though. Especially young up and coming guys. They Signed him to be their number 2. That's number 2 money.
But is he really young and up and coming. He will be 28 soon and was in a top offense that desperately needed WRs and he was unable to prove anything.

I think the difference is production vs the eye test.

TQS-IR will not get that kind of money from us or anyone else. He is also not looked at as a legitimate WR2. stats don't tell the whole story. TQS-IR got lots of playing time because we had a depleted WR corps and he was on the field by necessity.

MVS has been fighting for reps behind Devonte Adams, Randall Cobb, and Aaron Lazard. Devante alone has had over 600 targets since MVS get to Green Bay. He hasn't really had a chance to show his full potential. He plays in more games than Smith but fewer snaps per game.

Lots of TQS-IR's snaps come in fewer games (cause he's injured) and he's playing nearly every down (Especially the last two seasons) He's had the opportunity to be featured, but MVS has not.
He has had plenty of chances and has not stepped up. He may do it in KC, but he cannot blame that for his lack of production in GB.

I guess we will see how he looks in KC.

So his contract aside, his stats aside, Would y'all rather have him or TQS as our WR2?

He's the WR4in GB; TQS has been our WR1 and WR2 for at least 2 seasons.

That's not the same opportunity.

I mean, they had close to the same number of snaps. I get snaps aren't the same since there is read progression, but TQS hasn't ever really been our #1 or #2 receiver either in terms of snaps, targets, read progression, or starts. Even if we assume TQS got more snaps higher up the read progression, it still seems like MVS would have a good bit more production than TQS if he was really that much better.

If we are ignoring the contracts I'd go with MVS, but really only because I know that TQS isn't a top level WR and I don't know if MVS is or not. But if you factor in the contract he got, I'm good with not having MVS on the Saints. And maybe I'm wrong and he breaks out in KC, but it seem like a major risk for that much money.

Aaron Rodgers rarely gets past Adams in his read progressions.

I don't like receivers with poor catch rates especially ones that played with a great QB.

I would not be happy with MVS as the number 2 guy here. I'm glad we didn't land the guy especially for that price.

I mean I know he likes to throw to Adams, but he's putting up big numbers every year and it's not all going to Adams. Rodgers has 4,000 yards each of the last 4 seasons and Adams has averaged about 1,300 yards per season. Somebody was catching 2,700 yards of passes a year while MVS was in Green Bay.

Lazard, Cobb, Tonyan, and Jones all get chunks of that too..

Y'all may be right and that may be an overpay for MVS, but we are not going to be signing any option for WR that is clearly better for less money.

That's a good deal. I hate we missed out.

For him, maybe. 10M annually for a WR who averages 500 yards and 3 touchdowns per season is kinda bananas.

I'd rather Tre'Quan on the inevitable cheap 1 year deal we'll get him at and roll the dice on his health, because when he's healthy he's a better football player.
