[update: Saints met with Shedeur Sanders] Shedeur Sanders seen at NFL Combine wearing a Saints cap on his backpack (23 Viewers)

If he’s available at 9 it would require a hard look. My guess is there are some teams trying to push him down the board a little. If he makes it to 12 he’s probably a Cowboy (they could dump Dak in 2026), and if not, with Seattle at 18 and Pittsburgh at 21, my guess is that’s around where his floor is.

Man this sucks for us. We really really want sanders to get drafted before our pick to push a premium player down, if we miss out on Graham, Tet, Jeanty and Warren I will lose it.
Maybe we're one of the rumored interviews that didn't like his attitude and demeanor.
Just trying to cheer you up. :)

You and I have essentially have the same bubble. I'll throw in Will Johnson.

I'd also like Malaki Starks and Nick Emmanwori if we trade down a bit.

I don't see the point. Your safeties are near useless in terms of stopping offenses from 1st downs if your front 7 is weak like ours has been. And CB's even more so. In the specific case of Will Johnson, I'm weary of a secondary player who had success with Graham and Grant in the face of QB's all day, every day. To take a corner with a weak front 7 that can't stop the run feels like a very low return value for a 1.9 pick even if he does turn out to be all that everyone claims.

Yay! you can cover 1 WR over near the sideline while the opposing team just runs up the middle, passes over the middle, runs to the other side and the QB has 3+ seconds to pick his nose in the pocket then throw a pass.

I'm just not seeing the value.

You do realize that we a.) aren't drafting for only the 2025 season and b.) our only opportunity to add talent to the team isn't just with our 2025 first round pick, right?

I like the players, and the draft is more about adding talent and less about filling easy to pinpoint holes that exist right now, and come draft time, the team is likely going to look a lot different than it does at this very moment anyway.

Silly questions considering my posting history. With that said, you can add all the talent you like, but if the middle of the field is weak, the amount of talent on the outside is worthless. We saw this first hand with Dennis Allen while he kept upgrading the secondary and letting the front 7 weaken, our defense steadily got worse.

On top of that, look at the future of our secondary compared to our front 7. We haven't any answers for the next 4 years there. On the secondary we do (assuming we resign Adebo, keep Taylor) and despite this boards assumption, Honey Badger and Howard are doing quite well though it doesn't appear that way at first glace, because our front 7 is so incredibly weak.

So ya. We have long term answers in secondary for the next few years because that's all Dennis Allen ever upgraded defensively. We don't have a single one in the front 7 except maybe, and its a big maybe, Werner. Bresee, who's one of the worst DT's in the NFL at run defense is not as of now.

Drafting Will Johnson, or Starks is a move I would expect Dennis Allen to possibly make. A large reason I was a big advocate for Moore was because of his philosophy of focusing in the trenches. I would honestly be very, very surprised if Moore uses 1.9 for secondary or WR.

It’s two different situations, but drafting Shadeur will have the same PR impact Reggie had during the 2006 Draft.

I honestly don’t know a whole lot about your posting history. Maybe make yourself an avatar or something so you’d stand out more. 😂

Regardless, I think it’s a bit silly to be this invested in shooting down someone’s mere draft bubble, in early March, pre-free agency, based on what the roster looks like as of today.

My commentary is more about the players, the best talent available, not plugging direct roster holes. Who knows what the roster is going to look like days from now, much less in late April.

Not everything needs to be debated. It’s just a pre-free agency draft bubble. lol
