This is me. If he gets 9-10 wins again this year, and actually brinigs in the Number 1 QB, WR, and RB. I say let the man cook.

That's all well and good, but if we don't fix that secondary, we will still be 9 or 10 wins.

I hope we can at least get a smart FS/SS to cover for terrible DB play.

It was enough to win the game if the offense played at all close to their ability. And it wasn't every single time. The fact is that they stopped USC several times when LSU had the lead and when it was tied. The offense just never did anything with those opportunities.

Like I said, first year D-Coordinator with a team coming off of a historically bad year. To go on the road to what was essentially a USC home game, against a USC QB who didn't flinch under serious pressure, with an offense that was doing nothing, is about all you can expect.

Within the next two years one of us will be pulling up this thread with a huge ‘told-you-so’ smile on his face. I would rather it be you. But I don’t think it will be.

I understand the personal dusdain for Kelly... But this was gonna take years to get right and It's finally turning a corner.

I guess I just think if Bebe Orgeron can build a National Championship team that quickly then Kelly ought to be able to do it in 3 years. That and I don't really see a corner being turned. I see more of the same for the last 3 years minus having Jayden Daniels on the team. The defense got a good bit better, not good enough, but better. The problem is that he offense took a big step back. I see this more as basically starting over than turning a corner.

I don't know how that could be. I mean all I'm saying is that the defense was a good bit better tonight than they were last year and that they did enough to win the game. I don't know how that changes or gets confirmed or proved wrong in 2 years. I'm good with you not agreeing with me on this.

I'm with Widge. I thought the biggest downgrade in position group was WR. You could really tell we lost two 1st rounders.

Within the next few years the majority of fans will be calling for Kelly to catch a bus out of town. It won’t get better here with him as our coach.

I think that's part of it, but I also think they aren't using what they do have. Lacy disappeared after the first drive.

I don't disagree with that.

Kelly is the wrong guy for this program IMO. He's a solid coach, but I'm not sure he's the coach for big games and in the SEC nearly every week is a big game.

I agree with this. Many college fans and pundits bash this, but im ok with LSU starting the year off with a cupcake. Get some nice frosting and sprinkles to go.with it.

LSU is part of a tough conference, they dont have anything to prove or gain by playing tough out of conference opponents

I don't think the personal fouls were the full story of why they lost, not even close, but to the extent his team continues to get those calls and doesn't have a killer instinct, that's on him. He should be mad at himself.
