Guys, the oddsmakers don't predict the outcome of the game. They don't base their odds on what team they think is better. The oddsmakers base everything on getting the bets for each and every game to be 50/50. When you see the Steelers giving us 5 points, it isn't because Vegas thinks the Steelers are 5 points better than us, it's because that number is where they think half of betters will bet the Steelers and half will bet the Saints.

Please stop using numbers oddsmakers give as disrespectful. ONe has nothing to do with the other!

You are right, a couple of us have tried to explain this before, to little avail.

The odds are aimed at what they think the public perception of the game will be, and is not based on the team abilities.

Maybe someday this will sink in, LOL.

Seeing as how more people will bet on Pittsburgh then the Saints (in part due to Pittsburghs popularity, in part due to the respective histories of the teams), they set the line far on Pittsburghs side to encourage more balanced betting. Nothing to do with predictions.

logic, reason, and facts are all casualties when it comes to fanatics.
