Vikings: 4.7 yards allowed per rush (22nd). 6.9 yards allowed per pass. (12th) (2 Viewers)

The Viking know how to scheme a defense for Drew Brees. I'd like to see some effective running. This O Line needs to get something going.

So, 80 pass attempts and 20 rush attempts? I am kidding. I hope.

The last two weeks vs weak run defense teams, the Saints ran the ball 15 and 17 times, while throwing close to 40.

Expect the Saints to throw early and often. Each series will see 1-2 runs sprinkled into pass, pass, and pass some more.

I'm betting we will see press man coverage and an extra defender in the box. No one respects our replacement WRs.
Gonna be tough to move the ball just running into 6 man fronts all game.
I hope Payton has thrown away that stupid AK pass to the flat. Hasn't worked since week one.
I'd like to see Murray run some of those AK choice routes. He's been very soild catching the ball(see his TD last weekend) Decoy the heck out of AK and ride Murray until they key on him and then hit them with AK.

I really do understand the 'run the ball at all cost' crowd out there. Yes, having an effective run game is always the best way to bludgeon your opponent and avoid going into full shootout mode.

But too many games I am seeing the Saints getting stopped for 'two yards and a cloud of dust'. The fact is that the Saints need to make a decent play on first down to keep their drives going. Starting with a 7-8 yard pass on first down is what opens the playbook and keeps the defense guessing.

The problem has been that the passes have been lame and the plays are very low percentage routes mainly because the QBs and the receivers are rarely on the same page. Running the ball means very little if we are not opening holes & picking up yards. Until our offensive line can start asserting their will, a run heavy offense will be creating more '3 & outs' than we are producing now.

I would think Lining Alvin up in the slot a lot would be a good idea... he seems to run good enough routes, and defenses would key on him every play, and heck when you do get him the ball in the slot he could break one for 40 at any time. Im surprised CSP doesnt use him more that way . Would also open up some end around hand-offs and fakes

Not sure what the protocol is for close contact Covid list, but if Jameis is back, I’d love to see a ton of Taysom in the running game. He was so problematic for them in the playoffs.

Counterpoint: Kamara - 165 attempts at 4.7 per. Murray - 134 at 4.4 per.

It is all about when and how often. Also being more creative when and what sets we run out of. I just think Payton has had so much success with the pass and Brees that it is a hard habit to break.

SMH. Agreed. I have been saying this for years now. Especially now being limited at WR. I bet with Kamara in the slot would open up huge holes on a screen to Murray.
