Vikings: 4.7 yards allowed per rush (22nd). 6.9 yards allowed per pass. (12th) (1 Viewer)

It used to be we looked forward to Brees in the shotgun cutting up the other team. Now I feel like we should be lining up in the I formation with Drew under center most downs and equally distributing the run and pass keeping the opponent guessing.

Counterpoint: Kamara - 165 attempts at 4.7 per. Murray - 134 at 4.4 per.

It is all about when and how often. Also being more creative when and what sets we run out of. I just think Payton has had so much success with the pass and Brees that it is a hard habit to break.
ABSOLUTELY!!! Ding, ding, ding!!! We have a winner!!!
Yes, when & how is the key. But we don't want to run just for the sake of running the ball. It has to be in a way and at a time that it will be most effective. In recent games I've seen running plays being called when it's most obvious that we are lined up & prepared to run. The fact is that unless we are dominating the line of scrimmage, we still need to bring an element of surprise into our play selection.

I'm expecting to see this in the first quarter:

1st Down - Incomplete passes with miscommunication between Brees and the intended target. Maybe a few holding calls thrown in for good measure.

2nd Down - 2nd and 10 = random running play with the back hit at or behind the line of scrimmage. Holding if it's a big run.

3rd Down - 3rd and 15 = 7 yard completion or 16 yard completion brought back due to holding.

It’s absolutely hilarious to me that MIN is apparently giving up 2.2 more yards per play to the pass than the run, and that’s be used to argue we should run more?!

Where they rank in the league in these categories is completely irrelevant. The Vikings are literally worse at defending the pass than the run, by 2.2 whole yards. How that compares to the rest of the league is moot, because we only face the Vikings this week.

Power Sweep Right...Run for Daylight!
It worked against MN every time, for Vince.

Here’s to it being one of those games where we rip off 6,7,8 yards per rush......and we got no choice but to run it.

So you’re saying no matter what we’re punting a lot. I can’t disagree with you because I can totally see that happening. Yay!!! (Holding! Number ** offense) Awww shucks
