Thought I heard on WWL Baylor Qb Seth Russell invited to to tryouts. Searched and cant confirm. I know he went to Raiders for tryouts, but cant find anything else. Anyone else hear this?

I believe it was said he woulda been drafted if not for the gruesome ankle injury. At least a new camp arm to compete with Grayson for practice squad. Seems to have a cannon arm and really athletic. Thanks for the info Greg!!

Would be good to see what he can do. Looking at his video he has a nice release. Other than that, don't know if he is NFL ready.

I'm not sure very many QBs are NFL ready, these days, when they leave college. I don't have any numbers to back this up. It's an unqualified observation.

That is why I say "I don't know". These quarterbacks look so good in college, but when they step foot onto the nfl, the ball seems bigger in their hands.

Pretty much all of the QBs in college are not taking snaps from under center. That's a huge transition for them.

Not a fan of the running QB. They go down, which they will, and your season is pretty much gone.

I don't know that he is a running quarterback by nature, or was one by the design of Baylor's offense. He was a dual threat desiganted recruit coming out of high school, but I think he is more in the Donavan McNabb vein than the Steve Young one.

He has never had to read a defense, that we know, because no Baylor QB is asked to do that. And he doesn't go through his progressions, again, because Baylor. But he certainly has some skills to build off of. He is an interesting blank canvas for Payton/Carmichael/Lombardi to work with...

Especially coming from that system in Baylor.
