Was that Cams last game? (1 Viewer)

He hasn’t racked up the sack numbers, but he’s still wrecking plays. And likely doing so playing hurt.
I'm not knocking Cam, but father time comes for everyone. He's never been a sack artist but he's got them over time.

Huh!? He’s the most prolific sack artist in Saints history. More than Rickey Jackson.
You misunderstand what I'm trying to say. He's never been, and wasn't drafted to be, a sack guy. He's gotten his sack through being a solid and consistent 4-3 DE. When I say sack guy I mean the TJ Watt or Von Miller types, the guys that lead the year on a yearly basis. It's not a knock.

You’re right, I have no idea what you’re trying to say.

If he wants to remain a DE on passing downs, it may be time for him to shed some weight to get quicker. If not, he will be a run down guy only or a smaller DT for passing downs.

Been thinking the same exact thing all season; to extend his career, he should drop some weight and attempt to become strictly a pass rush specialist.

He actually said last week that he had a high and low ankle sprain plus something torn in his shin....
He’s a warrior. I sure hope he isn’t done, can’t take losing two of my favorite Saints back to back seasons (Drew and Sean) then shortly after another. Cam is amazing and I wish he could play forever.

Cam Jordan said, “I love the Saints too much to retire,” when asked about his future with the team.

Jordan’s production saw quite a dip in 2023, but he attributed much of his struggles to an ankle injury that bothered him all season. Despite playing in all 17 games for the Saints this season, Jordan managed just 43 tackles and two sacks — his lowest sack total since his rookie season. Jordan is under contract with the Saints through 2025 and is owed $13 million next season. He carries a dead cap hit of nearly $49 million, meaning he’ll be on the roster as long as he decides to continue playing. His comments on Monday suggest he won’t be hanging things up anytime soon.

Love Cam. He's been a great player for the Saints and a great person all-around. He can leave on his terms if it was up to me, but, he's slowing down and maybe should consider being a role player instead of an every down player. During the game against the Rams, the age and speed of the defense really showed up on the negative side in this game. Cam is not the only one that should consider taking on a smaller role

You could argue Cam's last elite pass rushing year was in 2019. That year, he registered a pressure on 19.2% of attempts against true pass sets (essentially standard dropbacks). This year, it was 12.2%, and all of the elite edge rusher names are in the 20's. Also, for that stat Cam ranked 78th out of 99 edge rushers with at least 100 attempts.

He did have a solid year for sacks/hits in 2021, but there was some luck involved since typically about a third of those pressures turn into a sack or hit (he was at 50% that year). He was probably unlucky this year with only one out of six pressures turning into a sack/hit, but it could also be an indication of being a step behind at this point in his career.

It's time he came off the field on 3rd downs.
