Of course the Six-Day War was a proxy war for the struggle between the U.S. and the Soviets. I thought that was a well-established fact.

Oh yeah. Even more than Israel, Egypt was a big time pawn in the proxy war. I know someone who was...umm...in the area back in the late '80s. He said you could watch Soviet and US aircraft taking off at the same time.
