Our safeties are not performing and our front seven are not finishing plays. That equates to giving up a lot of third and longs.

I don't see a ready-made solution for safety and you can tell the front seven that winning the initial battle isn't enough but I don't think that is going to be very helpful.

Start the rookie at safety. He played well when Mayes wasn’t avail. Mayes did not play well against Vikes.

I was thinking something similar. play honey badger in slot, put mayes and rookie at safety.

the defense seems to struggle with mobile qbs for some reason

Most defense struggles with mobile qbs. The only ones that don’t have an overall top notch defense with an incredible athlete that can just shadow the qb. This problem is not unique to the Saints.

When we lost Kwon Alexander we kind of lost that ability. You need that fast ranging LB to get that done (feel bad for him being on IR yet again). DD is getting older and slower. He is still a good tackler but he isn’t gonna run many people down. Warner needs to get a little beef on him and maybe he can be that guy.

We need to knock another draft out of the park this off-season to get back right and find a way to get a new head coach.
