Saints Weird things seem to be aligning (1 Viewer)

Good points.

I would have thought a few weeks ago that the NFC South crown was way out of reach….our schedule the rest of the way isnt too scary though after our mini winning streak. I will be watching the games with a lot more hope now.

In Rizzi we trust. Who dat
Well, technically it is way out of reach lol. As it stands this very moment we are at 98% to NOT win the division.

If we can make Atlanta shake in their Matt Ryan poop-stained pants down the stretch I will be at least a little happier.

I’m as big of a homer as any other Who Dat, but this post is not a “rah, rah” deal.

The timing of several things are sort of strange, but are happening in the Saints’ favor:

* bye week… absolutely perfect
* Lattimore trade… (we made out)
* Taysom’s return adds horsepower
* Rizzi is a dynamic HC
* both TE’s are playing great
* our new WR’s gettin’ it done
* Penning is no longer a liability
* Demario found fountain of youth
* special teams hidden yardage ++
* AK-41’s value (rushing/receiving)
* defense stepping it up late in games
* McCoy’s return (…huge)
* Turner & Young starting to ball-out
* (edit) Carr is playing winning football 🏈

There are even more positives, and the great thing is that it’s creating a synergy of optimism.

What happens for the rest of the season remains to be seen. But it seems like there’s an atmosphere of “anything can happen.”

Rizzy reminds me a lot of John Madden back in the days when he coached the Raiders. Madden was very enthusiastic, and he used to paste up and down the sidelines.

Pace…not paste. I Hate spellcheck!!!

And...

Darren Rizzi, the new interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints shared a few strong and emotional comments during his debut press conference on Monday. Despite all those comments being very cut and dry, he also had a few funny observations come up from his promotion.

Specifically one regarding T-shirts that Saints players had printed out last season, around Christmastime, in regards to him. These shirts read “Merry Rizzmas” a play on Rizzi’s last name and what he referred to as the “word of the year” in 2023.

“I got guys in the locker room (they) were wearing ‘Merry Rizzmas’ shirts,”...

I got mine!

I got a tee. (I didn't want to jinx them by getting a sweatshirt...)

(But... They win one more game and I'll go all in for a pullover hoodie!) : - )

I don't think it's realistic to expect a playoff berth, we dug too deep a hole too early.....not impossible, but very unlikely....I'm more concerned with how hard this team plays down the stretch.....are they motivated? even when out of the race.....

Good things have happened the last two weeks for sure. I think we probably go 2-4 or 3-3 the rest of the way. Regardless, this notion of playoffs seems unrealistic. We dug ourselves too deep of a hole with little to no margin for error.

Basically it's simple, win out and hope the Failclowns lose 3 out of their last 6 games, which is doable, they're not good.
I’d like to say that stranger things have happened.
But I can’t honestly say that anything as strange as that has ever happened before in the NFL. :scratch:

It's definitely a long shot, but at least it gives us something to hope for. Job one is beating the Rams next week; we've never matched up well against them.

I believe if we win out we can go to the post-season. I think the Falcons can realistically lose 3. That's not the part I think is improbable.

Winning out is the improbable part. We got rocked by Tampa Bay last time. The Rams aren't a bad team. Washington is playing good football. Playing in Green Bay in December is hard.

It's very likely we will lose one or two games in that stretch and we would STILL feel like this isn't a garbage team that gave up on the season. And we won't be getting enough help from Atlanta/Tampa Bay to go in as a 9-8 team this year (we will lose the tiebreakers).

But if we were to win out and go into the post-season on an 8 game winning streak, we would be very dangerous.

I still have hope we will make the playoffs. This is where bad weather can make anyone lose. Rain, snow, and cold weather can be the difference of good teams winning or losing. Especially if they are not good running teams.

That the Saints are a good running team is about the only cause for hope this year. Not all that concerned about the horrid weather we’ll see in Green Bay in December. Remember the frigid Cleveland game four years ago? Much concern about the Packers, though. The schedule at the end of the season is looking tougher than anticipated.

I was referring to "other" teams losing...
