Forget about the free agents and the upcoming draft for minute. Are there any potential roster makers that the Saints front office has recently signed? Anything beyond the proverbial response of “Camp bodies”? I read through these links and came away somewhat optimistic. Check them out if you haven’t already done so and post what you think the Saints got behind the scenes. If just one or two of these guys could make the roster, that’s big help for a CAP strapped franchise.

I've posted numerous times on Merritt. He's someone to watch.

Camp bodies are the only bodies we have added on offense. We cant expect to fill all of these holes through a draft. We need at least some proven help at WR2, TE1, and LT. We also need depth on the O line, a TE2 and a RB that can somewhat fill Kamaras spot when he is suspended. You cant possibly draft all that and expect every one of them to pan out, right out the gate.

It makes no sense to push money down the road if you arent trying to win this year - and you arent trying to win this year by expecting a bunch of rookies to fill first line spots. This whole offseason has been easily the most confounding I can ever remember.

"I like or WR room"- sarcasm

I don't feel we've signed a single diamond in the rough. Our big "splash" was the resigning of Winston. I think we've signed all the FA's we are going to prior to the draft. We all know our needs...and we have a BUNCH on offense to fill. Could be a tactic to not tip our hand for the draft.

I think your question will be better answered after the draft. It'll be that third wave of free agents we signed. Those players that didn't get the contract offers they or their agents thought they deserved and we're able to pick up at a better value.

Maybe Josh Adams. Good size (6’2”/225) and has a decent YPC (4.3). Can catch as well.

Depth:
Kamara
Ingram
Jones
Adams

I do hope we draft another RB but where we stand right now (backfield) is tricky. Could be good or might be trouble. I think the offensive strategy obviously will be to run the ball a lot. So depth will be very important. Will be watching how Adams does in preseason. If he doesn’t pan out I like the depth at RB in the later rounds of the draft.

Yeah, need to watch Adams to see what he can do since TJJ didn't show anything in the regular season. Ingram is at the age when RBs fall off significantly and Kamara will be suspended for at least 6 games per the CBA and personal conduct policy. RB is an area that needs to be addressed.

I'd like to see the saints re attempt Marlon Mack for a 1 yr deal to get him some run. I know they took a look at him last season when he requested a trade.

Be a good sub and full season supplement for touches and pairing up with AK later in the season while monitoring M.I. touches ...be a nice 3 head approach next season

Mack a FA and he knows he aint seeing that field with Taylor....... ever lol. We'll see.

Kevin White has the size/speed/strength to be an extremely dangerous WR… it’s just the greased oven mitts at the end of his wrists that are keeping him down.
Exactly. And you have to factor in his age now too. I think 28. It’s definitely do or die for him in this years camp. Man if he could only figure it out. If I recall he was rated at the top of the draft board with Cooper and Parker.

It's not like Payton left this team in very good shape. No QB, very little offensive depth, and not even blueprint being left behind before he called it quits quite late in the coaching carousel.

Regardless of what the team and FO say, this team clearly isn't trying to win this season. The plan is to draft, see what we've got on the roster currently, and then go into next season with Brees' contract off the books with a lot more money to spend.
