What if I told you Penning is..... (2 Viewers)

Yes. It matters because at some point DA will be gone and we will have to build a team. If Penning is good at RT and Fuaga is good at LT, that's two really good building blocks to start with.

So, I don't know, maybe people could consider not sheetting on everything Saints related just for a little while?
Yea... I was just tryin to be positive cause today has been rough... but I guess roasting is what you should now expect on the internet. We all wanna be comedians.

Not to disparage Penning, but when the interior line is as bad as ours is, they aren’t going to worry about the better than third team right tackle and go straight at the path of least resistance which is right up the middle.

It might mean a few less pressures for Penning since the pressure in the middle might get there before the LDE, but it's not like teams don't rush their LDE just because our interior OL is bad. Penning is still having to block someone on every play and he's been doing a good job of it both in pass protection and in run blocking. Frankly Fuaga got beat badly on the edge a few times last night giving up sacks so it still possible to give up pressures and sacks to Edge rusher even with our terrible interior OL.

Fuaga has played well so far but he was getting beat almost every snap against the Broncos. Seemed like every time Rattler dropped back, there was someone burning Fuaga on the blind side.
I’m willing to cut him some slack on one bad game(well the whole team was bad)

It’s an incredibly tough spot for a rookie LT to be in.

He's played well the last several weeks and if he can continue to play that way, he could be one of the pieces we need to build a team. I'm not sure how that's a bad thing, but I'm sure I'll be told.
He's definitely earned another season to play in a starting role. He's in a position where we can't really afford for him to not pan out. Need to give him the chances given how young he is and where/when we drafted him. There are a lot of other things to clean up and figure out with the team that Penning will be low on the list if he's even a concern at the end of the season.

It's fixable and it's really one of the few series of plays where I really recall him getting beat, but I'm just pointing out that just because our interior OL is terrible it doesn't mean that teams don't also try to get pressure off the edge.

Was more indecisive as to who was going to blitz a lot of times which put him on his heels
