What is your Favorite 'Opening Track' of Any Album (2 Viewers)

Automatic - Less Than Jake off of Losing Streak.

"This is the old dude, Howard J Reynolds, and you're listening to Less Than Jake."

And the hidden track coming BEFORE the first track was kind of cool.

But Stop on Ritual de lo Habitual is a great one, too.

Stop is a great one!!! Really sets the tone for an awesome album. That bridge where it's just Perry Farrells voice gets me everytime.

I'll add another that I was just listening too

Wilco - I am Trying to Break Your Heart - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Prince, "1999" from 1999
Miles Davis, "So What" from Kind of Blue
Jackson Browne, "Running on Empty" from Running on Empty
Los Lobos, "Don't Worry Baby" from How Will The Wolf Survive
Bangles, "Hero Takes a Fall" from All Over The Place
The Who, "Baba O'Reilly" from Who's Next
The Blasters, "Marie Marie" from The Blasters
'Til Tuesday, "Everything's Different Now" from Everything's Different Now
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, "Hawai'i '78" from Facing Future
Continental Drifters, "Get Over It" from Continental Drifters

Blackened, Metallica, And Justice For All
or
Stinkfist, Tool, Aenima

Theyre tied.

up the beach on janes addiction nothings shocking. you knew there was no effin around at that point! that album blew me away when i was much younger and most of it still holds up today

I'm a dinosaur, so I think I'll flash back to the mid/late 70s for a moment ...

Detroit Rock City on Kiss' Destroyer was a pretty strong performer if you liked those guys,

and Running With the Devil on Van Halen's first recording is up there in my book, too.

But Zepplin's first four probably take the cake:

Led Zepplin I - Good Times, Bad Times
Led Zepplin II - Whole Lotta Love
Led Zepplin III - Immigrant Song
Led Zepplin IV - Black Dog

Honorable mention: Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak - title song; Queen's Night at the Opera - Death on Two Legs; Rush 2112 - title song; Elton John's Captain Fantastic ... - title song.

a couple random ones

little furry things - Dinosaur Jr
pain in my heart - Otis Redding

little furry things - Dinosaur Jr
Good call. Out There on Where you been? is nice too, but then again Green Mind kicks off nicely with Wagon...
This is a nice thread, but I don't think I can make a choice...
Ambitions as a Rider on 2pac All Eyes on Me might take the cake for me. Man those first few notes, then the drums kick in, it's a fantastic feeling every single time.
