What was the 2-0 start? (1 Viewer)

The overwhelming majority will say “yes” but I don’t know. Watching what we could have done, IF everyone stayed healthy, was endless possibilities for offense. Unfortunately, the whole scheme was built around everyone staying 100% healthy and with the NFL being the NFL, that was an impossibility. Man at all these injuries. Sigh

It was us playing two bad teams but with McCoy, Patrick, Olave, Shaeed, Lattimore, Adebo, Harris. Do you really think those guys don’t make a difference?

1. The Cowboys and Panthers suck and it was early in the season.
2. We built a team that just can't handle any injury. The NFL is one of the most violent sports you can play.
3. Saints are one dimensional on offense and have no way to adept.

There is a branch where the Saints could have won 9-10 games and the division if they had stayed healthy, but let's be clear we where never anything other then a mediocre team playing in a bad division.

Not trying to pick a fight, but tape on the offense wasn’t going to change how good it could have been. The deviations and layers of schemes they could have grown with from Taysom being so involved was going to make any team that played us have to pick their poison. We checked every box with the ability to run power, finesse, trickery, etc. Unfortunately, you saw how quickly that blew up when McCoy went down and Hill went out. The whole scheme disappeared like a puff of smoke once that happened.

Once again, totally un obtainable, but this scheme was built around 100% health. When it went down to 90%, we barely lost. When it went down to 30% we became a laughing stock.

So doesn't that speak volumes about the garbage we've been drafting?

What it is, is what this team has been the past several season. The Saints get ready and prepared for the beginning of the season. They have months to work.out a gameplan. They shock.the world and then the season goes Downhill afterwards. I think the Saints have won 6 straight openers

Not 100% on the drafted players. It’s more of a testament to the lack of the ability to have depth. I never truly believed the consequences of kicking the can down the road with the salary cap, until now.

And that's what will keep DS as head coach and why Loomis is saying this goes beyond results because he knows we are dealing with a lot of injuries that should not be held against the coaching staff.

I get their logic but there is only so many times you can use the same excuse. There has to be a change and everyone knows it. If not, they will lose the ability to turn this thing around in the years to come. We will become something like Carolina has become.

Dennis Allen tried to make a deal with the devil but he forked that up, too.

I agree, I think a good coach has his team playing well despite injuries, it does not translate to wins but sound football is indicative of good coaching and sure you will lose to a team with better talent and health but you know going into the game your team is prepared even if undermanned, you know, like when CSP was the head coach

I always felt after CSP retired it was time to find the next offensive guru and we took the lazy route with DA and the "continuity" campaign that we all signed up for because we love our Saints and the family dynamic they established but it has proven to be just glorified baby sitting by our defensive coordinator as he has not pushed this team forward but has us stuck in neutral and sliding backwards back into mediocrity.
