Saints What was your PERSONAL reaction to the “no-call” vs the Rams? (2 Viewers)

I haven't seen yet where anyone has mentioned this possibility: The fix was on .. the Super Bowl that year was going to be in the LA Rams' brand new $billion dollar plus stadium. I have no doubt but that the NFL (Goodell included) wanted the Rams to host the Super Bowl. And that's my take. The referee intentionally did not make an obvious pi call. It made me sick to my stomach.
The Super Bowl was in Atlanta, not LA. The one held in LA was early 2022.

A very numb feeling of disbelief when it happened. I still believed we could win in OT, but beating the second best team in the conference twice in one game was too much to ask.

I was absolutely seeing red! But in my mind, I wondered why Lewis didn’t get up and scream bloody murder! 😡 He just ran off like “oh, well.”

Brees and the Saints should have gotten their 2nd Super Bowl 🏈 that season!

I was in the dome and that game broke me as a diehard fan. At that point, I realized these games are manipulated to reach a determined outcome.

They Saints had multiple chances to win that game, the fact is they got but their buts kicked by an inferior team because they were out coached and out played. Same reason they got beat by the Vikings the year before and year after.

It was bad enough when it happened, but what probably made it worse was the DB later admitting he intentionally went for the PI to save the touchdown. He was ready to accept the consequences, but looked up and there was no flag in sight.

I'm totally okay with that, actually. It's not like it was a dirty hit. He took a calculated risk and it worked out for him. I'm NOT okay with the refs purposely failing to throw a flag because the moment is too big for them to handle.

One of my FB friends who's not a Saints fan made a similar statement. Even if you buy into it, you still can't take away the fact that if the PI never happened, or if it was called, we would have won.

I aged ten years and realized that this was the end of the greatest era in Saints history. can lightning strike twice?!

Seething red-hot anger, it still boils my blood to this day. As other posters said, the lack of accountability and the Rams basically laughing in our faces about it still irritates me to this day. I am not as emotionally caring as I was, just hold a grudge against the clown and Vinovich.

I was in mixed fanhood company, watching games in a bar in a city which does not have an NFL team. No other Saints fans present, so I was in a group text with some friends and eyeballing a Twitter feed with just Saints fans on it. When the hit happened, everyone in the bar reeled in disbelief that no flag was thrown. The group text exploded. The Twitter feed went bananas. I just put my head down. It felt like the Saints had already lost the game at that point. Reading my Twitter feed in later days was hell - people were celebrating not having the Brees-Brady Super Bowl we all deserved.

Less than two weeks later, a dearly beloved friend, who could not tell you what color a football is, passed away tragically and my life perspective shifted altogether. I didn’t even hate watch the Super Bowl - I comforted friends and family, and vowed to place fun and enjoyment at the center of the things I do for the rest of my life, as she did in hers which was cut so short.

Just being curious, what's your favorite "soccer" team? I'm an Eastleigh fan. Go figure, lol.
Ipswich Town - we were relegated from the Premier League in 2002 and last season got promoted from the 3rd tier back into the Championship, where we're currently 2nd and playing the best football we've seen for over 20 years. Hopefully we can sustain the good start!

I used to think bountygate was when the NFL as I knew it died. Maybe that's true, but that no-call was essentially the casket being lowered into the ground and dirt being shoveled on it.

The grave stone being set in place what when Brees took the slap to the head on that interception in OT and no flag was thrown. If that was Manning, Brady, Mahomes, etc there's so much yellow on the field after that play it looks like that road on the wizard of oz....
