When and if Cameron Jordan surpasses 100 career sacks, does he join the "maybe one day" HOF category? (1 Viewer)

Like someone above said, its not just Jordan’s pass rush stats that have made him so good. He’s been equally as good against the run. Not sure if that gets the same recognition when it comes to the HOF, though. When you look at his whole body of work, with six pro bowls, his playoff production, and let’s say he does get to 100-110 career sacks, I think he should certainly be considered. Maybe I’m biased. This guy has never missed a game in a decade-long career thus far.

Yes. And he does so much more. An example of the plays he makes off the ball that largely go unnoticed by fans and the media.

He won’t be a 1st ballot, but I think he gets in around ballot 3. One thing that helps is personality. Say what you want, but quiet players usually don’t get the same attention as outspoken or charismatic players do. If Marques Colston had more of a colorful, extroverted personality, he’d have gotten far more national attention. His numbers were consistently top 10, but he rarely got recognized for them. He was too quiet.

Cam has great stats but even more— THE MEDIA LOVES HIM. Whenever players are interviewed for our team, it’s normally Cam doing the national shows. That was the case even with Drew here. Cam‘s charisma and personality is engaging—that matters. If he sniffs 110, I believe he gets in. Being affable and entertaining resonates with people. Y’all might think I’m reaching, but I honestly believe the sports media often votes on how certain players make them feel and not just on how transcendent the players were.

That 2011 draft class was nuts. From that class for HOF consideration in front of him I would have to say:

1) JJ Watt - First Ballot Lock
2) Julio - We don't like him but if Calvin got in first ballot then so will he
3) Sherman(5th rd) - I think Sherman gets in before Patrick Peterson based on reputation, although I think Peterson was the better player
4) Von Miller - He was DOMINANT for a few years. If he gets in first ballot (or at all) I think it's based on early career reputation
5) Peterson - The sad life of a really good lock down corner on a bad team most of his career. I don't think he ever really made enough noise in his career to get in, but he does have a very noticable name going all the way back to college, so maybe
.
.
.
5) Cam Jordan - Just feels like a big drop off after those but Cam is definitely the next best player. Hall of very good.
Good news for Cam is that looking at that list are a couple other "good numbers" HOF lock guys that didn't get a ring either. He may not be first ballot, but he should get in based on his numbers and his snap %.

If Julio can get in without a ring, which shouldn't be a determining factor for non-QBs, then Cam should as well.

Cam is maybe my favorite player but I would put him in the Hall of Very VERY Good. Probably not enough for the HOF. It's really the guys with 120 plus sacks that are locks. Also, a couple other guys like Chandler Jones, Justin Houston and Cameron Wake were drafted near Cam and have more sacks. I wouldn't really consider those guys HOF worthy either. I hope Cam gets in some day.

List:

Like others stated, I'd put him in the hall of very good unless there is another huge spike. Sacks have only been an official
stat since 1982. You have guys like Coy Bacon,Bubba Baker, and Jim Marshall who played before this era with more than 130. It's doubtful any of of them will make the HOF. There are also modern players like Clyde Simmons, Robert Mathis
Dwight Freeney, and Simeon Rice who have more than 120. Dwight Freeney imo is the only one from those who will
eventually make the hall.

Good, this gives me the opportunity to do two things.

First is to say that my guy, Bruce Smith is the gold standard. The best to ever do it. Consider some if the injuries he played through and it's mind warping how good he was. Against the pass and the run. Man I loved cheering for him. BRUUUUUUUUCE!

Second is to say that if you are talented enough to record half as many sacks ad Bruce I think that gets you in. Especially if you take in to account some of the defenses Jordan has anchored.

I say he's in sooner rather than later.

I just dont see him getting in. Lack of Market will hurt him ultimately. If played for Dallas or NYG yeah i would say he sneaks in. But ultimately if you break it down 10 full seasons starting if he does make it to 100 sacks thats only an average of 10 a year
