When have you seen Dennis Allen embrace players and share positive moments with them? (1 Viewer)

I mean, one of those pictures is jus Bill talking to his players. I have seen DA do that.

That picture was more to illustrate a rallying moment where coach and players put their heads together to turn a game around. I haven't seen that from Allen. Maybe it happens but when I watch the games, all they show is Allen staring off into space as the players jog over to the sidelines after another failed drive or giving up a score and the game is getting out of hand. Maybe its the media coverage but it still seems to be a very hands-off, business like approach from Allen.

Thank you @SonOfNOLA for those shots. Its nice to see there's at least some kind relationship between Allen and his players. I think it would go a long way to see more of that. I only ever see Allen addressing the team as a whole or alone in a press conference. Which is why it feels like he's not in the trenches with his guys going to battle and more back up on the hill sending in commands.

I think what we’re seeing is fans trying to grasp at or identify why a coach who knows Xs and Os and is seemingly liked by his players is a pretty poor overall head coach.

It’s a fruitless endeavor to try and figure it out. It’s just that some coaches have the “it” and some just don’t. And there are numerous and varied personality types that have won games and championships - from stoic and silent to fiery and flashy.

Whatever it is that makes that solid position coach a competent and successful head coach is an it that Dennis Allen just doesn’t seem to have.

The league history is littered with them.

Bullshirt thread looking for stupid forking things to talk about. Looks like other posters have already blew up your stupid forking narrative.
Lol, getting mad at people posting things to start a discussion on a forum... Maybe skip the shart in your wheaties tomorrow morning.

When I see DA, he's walking down the sidelines with his chest stuck out, always looking behind or to the side of him. I can't get that image out of my head.

I think we can all agree on this topic Dennis Allen is a poor head coach. He is simply put not decisive enough for the job. I think he is a great coach for sure. He is a sound tactics guy. I have listened to him speak he is more than likely a great educator. He has high attention to detail but at the end of the day he just doesn’t have the “it” factor to be the guy you want running your program.

We all watched Payton do it for almost 20 years that guy is a head coach. He can get up at the podium and say things like “I benched so and so because I have seen enough” “We are going to release player X because he is not performing” but to borrow something from another poster Payton never ever looked like a 🦌 in the headlights at any given moment. Nothing was too big for him. He was in control and knew exactally what we were going to do before it was time to do it. Is this 100% true….. I am sure not at all but his mannerisms and body language never led anyone to believe otherwise.

Being in charge of a program is a lot more than being smart it is believing in yourself so much so everyone around you is caught in your gravity well. You can suck everyone into your orbit and make them focus in on you and your message. In that moment of doubt or decision everyone looks at you and knows you have an answer. Denis Allen just doesn’t have that trait. He has the rest of them but he lacks the one that is most important.

I don't care if DA chest bumps or hugs people. Makes no difference.

Payton was able to win games simply by out scheming the other team. He also demanded the players give 100% or they would be shipped out.

I haven't seen this in DA's tenure.

DA is not a competent HC, I think nearly every one realizes this by now (there may be a few still in denial)......BUT, it has nothing to do with "embracing players or showing more emotion".....Good leadership comes in many shapes/sizes/styles, there is no finite model (though some seem to think there is).....

I think DA truly cares for the players and the players like him as a person, but when we keep losing DA is the one running the team it’s gonna be hard to see acts of PDA between him and the players when nobody is in a good mood because we are getting our arses kicked

I’ve seen him do jumping chest bumps with players after big plays.

Also how much emoting, hugging and jumping did you see Belichick do as a coach?
Plenty. BB isn't gonna be giving jumping chest bumps, but I've seen him hugging players and coaches both on the sidelines and in locker rooms after wins. I just didn't think this would be turned into a narrative during a thread about people creating narratives.
