Which player(s) would you offer for trade this year if Saints rebuild through the Draft? (1 Viewer)

I'm not understanding the Rattler love. Haener was leagues better last night.

What's to understand... One guy played the whole game under constant duress with no adjustments, and did some good and bad things because of that... the other guy came in during garbage time and delivered a few throws.... Both guys need reps.... Rattler has the much higher upside...

This isn't about who gives us the better chance to win right now anymore... It's about QB of the future... And that guy is much more than likely to be Spencer. Therein lies the Love...

The cap ramifications for trading players at the deadline is difficult. Some bonus money accelerates to this years cap like any post June 1 trade would. We have minimal space left to do that with. We might be able to do that with a couple of guys if we restructured younger guys we want to keep, but not many.

EDIT: Actually, trading AK and Latt for picks might clear up enough space to allow Ramczyk to retire now and spread his cap hit out now and get a head start on fixing the cap in general.

Olave and Latt

Players I would trade:
Olave
Latt
AK41 (he deserves better)
Chase Young

Would’ve said Adebo but we know why we can’t now

You can "kick the can" when you have guys on your roster with contracts that you actually want to keep. There may be a handful of guys that are worth building around on this roster. We're screwed.
That's been the narrative since 2006. Yet, Loomis always finds a way.
Besides the injuries, the biggest problem the Saints have, they don't count against the cap.

What I saw was one guy dropping back, hitting his drop and *not* delivering the ball. Then another guy dropping back and getting rid of the ball before the rush could get to him

Obviously Latimore and Kamara would be the most movable guys. I'd trade them to give them a chance at being on a decent team.

Young because he looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

Any of our Linebackers. Obviously resigning Werner was dumb.

No one else would even fetch a bag of peanuts. So not worth the effort except to get rid of contracts.

Wouldn't want to trade McCoy, Taylor, Kool Aid, Breese, Shaheed, Fuaga, Olave. Everyone else would be shopped.

These have zero value:
Derek Carr - old, expensive and not very good
Caesar Ruiz - expensive and not very good
Cam Jordan - old, expensive and finished
Demario - old and expensive
Honey Badger - old and expensive
Saunders - meh
Nathan Shepard - bust FA
Willie Gay - meh
Jamal Williams - bust FA
Chase Young - bust FA

These have low round value:
Werner (6th-7th) - injured too much
Adebo (5th) - injured and due a new contract
Kamara (4th) - old and expensive
Hill (4th) - old and expensive

Has the most value:
Lattimore (3rd)
Fuaga (2nd)
Bresee (2nd)
McCoy (3rd)
Agreed except I don’t think Latt would get even a third. AK and Hill would not fetch more than a 5th either imo.
Nobody wants any of these players, unfortunately. You might get a late-round pick for Lattimore, Granderson, McCoy or Olave, but everybody else is going to look at this roster and just see a pile of JAGs.
This all day. It blows my mind how overvalued our players are by some fans. We have seen a plethora of examples of teams trading big name players for way less than what we think the team will get for some of ours.

Saints should not look to move up in the draft because they need players to fill starting and backup roles. Trade back and stock pile picks for this coming year and future years. I would start with Kamara due to his contract is coming up for renewal and he will want top dollar. At 30+ years old, and the poor cap space Saints are currently under, I would look to move him. I hear Dallas is under pressure for not signing Derrick Henry during the off season. They may be desperate and willing to offer a draft pick or two.
Great take. Exactly what first move should be.

Rattler looked good all things considered. He completed 25 out of 35 and even had some drops with backup WRs and no oline going against one of the best defenses in the league.

Haener had mop-up duty and Denver called off the dogs. But give Haener the start next week it won't change anything. This team is cooked.
They were blitzing Haener just like Rattler and were pissed when Saints got TD.
