It's week 10 and we're now past the halfway mark of the season. No team has been mathematically eliminated as of yet. Several including our Saints are on the brink of it. Currently the league has 9 teams with 2 wins on their records. That's 28% of the teams in the league. There will be some separation at the bottom after this week as some of the 9 teams will win and some will lose. Most won't win many more games this season. On the upper end there are only 14 teams with a winning record at this point, 7 in the AFC and 7 in the NFC. And while that looks like the parity the NFL wants; I doubt the league likes the idea of so many teams already having records so poor that their fan bases have already given up on their seasons. What's a little more interesting is that the NFC is a little more competitive so far this season than the AFC. The #11 AFC seeded Titans have a 2-6 record and the #11 NFC seeded Bucs have a 4-5 record.

Which Teams Do You Prefer To Win This Week?

Thursday Night Football

CIN (4-5) @ BAL (5-3)
- An AFC North matchup between two of the top teams in the division. A win by the Bengals would vault them into the conversation of the playoff seeding and also put them into contention for the division. A loss would just about eliminate their hopes to win the division but wouldn't totally ruin their chances to make the playoffs. A wind by the Ravens would temporarily have them leapfrog the Steelers and move into 1st place in the division. I am an LSU homer and without any apologies I'm all for the Bengals in this one and would love to see Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase light it up tonight. Of course, I'd also like to see a close game between the two to hold my interest.

Any Thoughts?

I guess that Henry and Jackson have to be early MVP candidates. Can the Bengals slow them down tonight!? Not sure and this game is in Baltimore so it looks like the Ravens have a lot going for them. I’m not sure what the Bengals issues are but they have to be considered disappointing so far at 4-5.

An unrelated item that I ran across:

Games like this are the reason I always left out AFC matchups out of my KWTPF writeups. While diehard football fans (and those who sometimes sprinkle some money on games) tend to show interest in every game, most Saints fans only care about the games that can directly affect the Saints standings for a playoff berth. Now that the Saints are no longer in that conversation, there are even fewer fans who care about the teams that are still in the race to New Orleans in February.

Like you my interest was to see those two former LSU greats get another shot at the big prize. I never was a Ravens fan and that's why Jackson's greatness means little to me. I wish the Bengals would have won, but I'm not losing any sleep over any winners or losers in the AFC games. I simply don't care. My only wish is that someone will soon knock the Chiefs off of their undefeated perch. I've had more than enough of their promos for one lifetime.

Wash has my rooting interest. I'll watch if they are on. But for now football will.just serve as background noise while I do things or take a nap.
