Jake Browning will be an UFA after this seasons!

He will get a huge raise from his current $750K contract with the Bengals.
He is currently only 27 years old.

So far he looks like a bona-fide NFL starting QB.

Will we try to sign him?

I believe the Bengals will have his rights for a few more years, Spotrac shows he will be an ERFA next year. This will be his first accrued season.

You are correct.

He signed his first contract with the Viking in 2019.
You would think the NFL Players Union would not allow teams to keep a player as a RFA for this amount of time!

Yeah. It says he has 0 accrued seasons. If that’s the case they can have him for two more years as an ERFA. Then one as an RFA. Then he’d be a UFA in 2027 at age 31.

But how much time has he actually spent on a roster? According to OTC he has 0 accrued seasons. You need four to be a UFA.

I was surprised also since he entered the league in 2019, but looks like he never cracked a 53 man roster until this year. All of his time in the NFL before now was on practice squads.

I’m begging the Saints to not fall for yet another 6-game wonder journeyman and instead draft a young QB.
Agreed this year's draft class has many available talented QB's with "Potential". I just wonder if they feel like Jake H is the future or not. If for some reason we keep the same coaching staff and if they do feel that way then we are screwed once again.

May be true, may also be moot.....there are more than a few teams that will probably be willing to give up a draft pick for him if he continues to play well.....

I don't believe Haener is in our future. I know some of you don't like Bobby Herbert, but he said Haener
just doesn't have an NFL arm. Those deep outs he was throwing in preseason were against players who
didn't make the final cuts. They would have been Int's against NFL starters. Bobby also bases his opinion
on what he's seen in practice .

That’s a big risk if they do. And the bengals may rather have the insurance for Burrow. As long as it isn’t us giving up a top pick for a 27 year old QB who had a good month…it’s fine with me.
