Why not kill two birds with on stone? Step on into my world... (1 Viewer)

I want the Gues also. The guy is explosive back there. The good thing is that he is a senior who have played all four years at state and he's a ballhawk. He wants the ball when it is in the air. I watched this guy play and he covers the field really well.

He would complement Harper just fine. Wouldn't have to worry bout a safety for years to come. Speed is outstanding and can do punt returns. Just need to get in the weight room.:hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::plus-un2:

The Gues for our new FS. This guy will make a huge difference in the secondary.
The other thing is he's unheralded. Unless he blows up the combine, he's going to come in with an UFA type of mentality and work ethic. Four years in college will do him just fine in the NFL.

I'm just saying...

He's going to have a good combine so he'll tick up some. I'd say late 2nd round.

You mean the three teams still in the playoffs with probowl safties? :9: :smilielol:
last year it was all about skimping on the secondary as long as you had a great pass rush. how quick do these philosphies change
the point is, we need more than a safety, this is a swiss cheese defense
mainly get rid of grant/smith, great safetys can be found later in the draft, bob sanders was a 2nd round pick
as for this guy i dont know, i agree with polo, but that was the only game i saw him, where he did poorly, what other good qb's did he face this year? it was kind a down year in the sec when you talk about quarterbacks

As an MSU grad I would love this and have been preaching this all season. As for the Ole Miss game, Derek Pegues was hurt but still out there playing. The team had packed it in after the previous week's loss to Arkansas.

I have followed is career for four years, and yes he may have had a bad game against Ole Miss this year, but he single-handedly beat the Rebels the previous year.

Take a look at the LSU game from this year, he was all over the place in that game. He is the real deal plain and simple, he's not getting the publicity because he played at MSU but he is good.

I believe he led the SEC in punt and kick returns as well so he can be an asset in the kick return dept.

I do not see us sitting at 14 and trading back, and if we pick up a second rounder we may just jump all over him.

Pegues is a 4 year starter. He's faced plenty of good QB's over the years. He's a former 5 star guy who lived up to the ranking. He was hurt late in the season and that hampered him. He's an excellent returner also. He had a great season his junior year, but MSU just had a terrible team this season, especially on offense. He did the best he could and is a big reason why their defense was still respectable most of the season. He'd be an excellent pickup in the 2nd round if we trade down.

Snead was playing great football at the end of the season. I admit i didnt watch the game. And i cant seem to find the highlights either. Main thing is did he bite on playaction and get beat deep. Now if he was helping on the other side of the field you cant blame him even Ed Reed can only cover so much ground

I've no problem getting him if we trade down.My only question is,is didn't he have some kind of attitude problem?I could be wrong....of course if I played for MSU I'd have an attitude too.

Two words: Derek Peuges

So we all know that FS is one of if not our biggest need this offseason. If you don't then you don't watch Saints football enough or you've been drinking too much at the games. :hihi:

Anywho, I had a thought a while back that would kill two birds with one stone. By this I mean our FS issues and being handcuffed to re-sign Roby just for his return talent, wasting a roster spot for a WR who won't play WR.

And even sweeter, he's an SEC kid so you homers can be happy. :hihi:

Here's the plan: Trade down to the mid/late second round and select Derek Pegues out of Mississippi State. :9: Gain a late second round pick with the use of our #14 while getting our ballhawk. :9:

Some film:

I was looking at these highlights,i think this guy will be a great safety in the nfl,he looks better than Moore to me but what do i know

With the late second rounder, we could pick up a RB if the FO feels it's neccesary, or go for a OLB. :9:
i agree
