The New Orleans Saints still do not know who will be the starting left tackle for the start of the 2013 season and there are a few players the team is considering. One player that was expected to get the first “crack” at left tackle is Charles Brown. However, Brown suffered an undisclosed injury during the Saints’ OTA’s.
Head coach Sean Payton said that he did not want to discuss injuries until fall, but did say that Brown suffered his injury in the weight room. Newly-acquired offensive tackle Jason Smith replaced Brown on the first team offense as he sat out of OTA’s. Brown might have a chance to win the starting left tackle position, but he must be able to stay healthy.
Earlier in the offseason, Payton said that he was not completely confident in Brown starting at left tackle given his injury history. If Brown is suffering an injury before training camp even starts, it does not bode well for his longevity heading into the regular season.
